THE BEAUTI BOOK MAR 2018

Beauty at Every Age

During an evaluation, for both men and women, we check your vitamin D levels, testosterone, human growth levels, and estrogen. When we find an imbalance, we can help you reach ideal levels through hormone therapy. Using bioidentical hormones — hormones that are exactly like the kind your body produces — we can make up for hormone loss and help you not only look good, but feel well, too.

We are lucky to live in a time when people are living healthier, longer lives thanks to modern medicine. You have many wonderful years to look forward to! How do you want to spend them? When you think about your future, do you picture your skin just as youthful as it is now, with the same glow and firmness? If your answer is no, it’s time to reimagine yourself! With our incredible technology, you have access to not only a longer life, but also a life where you can maintain and enhance your beauty for years to come. 20 s and 30 s In your 20s and 30s, prevention and maintenance are key. It’s never too early to prevent skin damage. You should apply sunscreen daily and use accessories like sunglasses and hats to prevent unwanted sun exposure. At this age, talk with your esthetician to find a skin care line that works for you. We like Rhonda Allison products because of their anti-aging ingredients that contain natural SPF. For sensitive skin, their Minus 10 line is one of our favorites. Moisturizing daily and visiting your esthetician regularly will contribute to glowing, healthy skin. They can recommend products suited to your moisturizing needs and at-home exfoliation routines. Products like those from Rhonda Allison that exfoliate and moisturize your skin at the same time will help you maintain moisture and tautness. You might also benefit from hair removal to prevent that pesky bikini line and leg hair from ruining your day at the beach or night on the town. Go hair-free in a year with laser hair removal, which is another service we offer at the spa. 40 s and 50 s As you age gracefully, your body has different needs than it did in your 20s and 30s. As you enter your 40s, it might be time for a hormone evaluation to determine whether you have the right levels. Hormone imbalance can lead to fatigue, increased risk for disorders and disease, and an overall feeling of being off. We can determine an imbalance with a simple saliva test. Don’t just maintain. Enhance your beauty! We’ll show you how to do it at every age.

You might find additional skin-tightening and rejuvenating services, like Viviscal, Volbella, and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), to be right for you.

60s, 70s, and Beyond! You might notice your skin is starting to thin and lose elasticity. You’re now at the point when choices you made in your 20s — smoking, sun worship, and eating poorly — will start to show. Fortunately, there are still treatments that can help reverse these effects! As you age, it’s more important than ever to work with your esthetician to find a routine that adds moisture and brightness back to your skin. Facials like the SilkPeel and LED light therapy are incredible new techniques that we can use to give you back your youthful glow. Treatments like thread lifts and Volbella can help revitalize your skin. These treatments target specific areas, from your lips to your undereye area and under your neck. Sometimes, the best approach is a combined treatment, like Thread Lift with Thermage. That way, we can tackle issues from two angles. We are all different, so your skin care needs will likely vary. That’s why it’s important to have a full evaluation. That way, we can customize your treatment plan to address your specific concerns. When you come to Beautique, we give you a thorough evaluation to give you your best options — for every age.

THE POWER OF HERBAL TEAS

3 TEAS FOR BETTER HEALTH

PEPPERMINT TEA It’s no surprise this is one of the most popular herbal teas around. Thanks to its not-so-subtle aroma and natural sweetness, it delivers on flavor and packs a healthy punch. Peppermint tea is known for its ability to aid in digestion. Plus, it works wonders on stomach inflammation, alleviating everything from minor aches to nausea. ROOIBOS TEA A South African tea, rooibos is noted for its high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants. If you’re looking for an immune system boost, rooibos is here to help. Thanks to its antioxidant powers, it’s also great for the skin. Stressed out? Anxious? Have a cup of rooibos tea. It helps ease stress and lowers blood pressure. Furthermore, rooibos tea lacks oxalic acid, an organic compound that plays a role in the formation of kidney stones. If you’re prone to kidney stones but love tea, rooibos may be the answer. REVITALIZE YOUR LASHES AND BROWS One word comes to mind for spring: rejuvenation. As the flowers bloom and the days get warmer, give your eyes the same fresh appeal with the Revitalash lash and brow sets. The Revitalash lash set includes lash serum, primer, mascara, and defining liner to make your eyes pop. Botanical extracts add to the natural feel of the products, and a swipe of the raven-hued mascara will give your eyes the bright, defined look you seek. For perfect contouring control, check out the brow set. Using biopeptin to strengthen your brows, the brow conditioner is a must for your brow routine. Finish off with the brow gel for a perfectly polished look. Find Revitalash and other amazing products in Beautique’s shop or online store. These sets make great gifts, too!

For centuries, people around the globe have relied on the power of herbal tea. Today, there are more herbal teas on the market than ever before. Finding a flavorful tea that also offers the right health benefits can be a challenge. Here are three varieties of herbal tea that are among the best of the best, both in flavor and healing power. LAVENDER TEA For some people, lavender tea is great for reducing headaches, arthritis pain, and general joint aches and pains. For others, however, it improves sleep. Lavender tea is often recommended to people who suffer from insomnia or who have trouble falling asleep. Drink some before bed and let it do the rest. It helps you feel relaxed and eases you into the Land of Nod. The flowery flavor isn’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for a natural sleep aid, it’s worth trying. If the flavor proves too strong, a great alternative is chamomile, which shares many of the same properties as lavender tea. “I’ve been going to Beautique for several years now and have always been provided the best service. THE BEAUTIFYING BACTERIA

Most of us know that the same bacteria that causes botulism also gives us the amazing line-defying tool we call Botox. How did bacteria that was once deadly become such an important anti-aging treatment? In the 1800s, after a number of people became ill and died from eating smoked sausage, a German scientist wanted to know why. He studied the bacteria and even sampled the bad sausage himself to learn the effects. This led to greater understanding about the bacteria’s ability to interrupt brain signals in humans and animals. Eventually, it was discovered that the bacteria could actually be helpful when safely administered. Though the bacteria itself is not harmful, when it reproduces under the right conditions, it becomes deadly. That’s why people who can foods have to clean their glassware so carefully. If the bacteria are on the can before it is sealed, the low-acid, low-oxygen environment can create the perfect environment for botulism growth. Botulism is also the reason you can’t feed your baby honey. The bacteria’s spores are found in the sweet food and have been linked to some cases of infant botulism.

Thankfully, technology has allowed us to isolate these bacteria so that they can be helpful instead of harmful. The bacteria have been used to treat lazy or crossed eyes and even migraine headaches.

When it earned FDA approval in the early 2000s, Dr. Sanchez began to offer Botox. Our staff is trained and knowledgeable in its application. Today, we can use these bacteria to manipulate facial muscles to take away unwanted lines and give you optimal anti-aging results. You should only get Botox from a trusted, trained source. The best time to see the spectacle is from the end of March through the end of April. ANZA-BORREGO DESERT STATE PARK Desert lavender, flowering cacti, pygmy poppies, and rock daisies are just a few of the many wildflowers decorating Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
