A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 9

It has been an exciting time this week at Waldegrave, as the whole school has joined in with the Year 11 celebrations including ‘Dress Up Day’ and their last ever assembly. All of the students enjoyed seeing the Year 11 outfits and there was a lovely feeling of celebration in the school. Hopefully all Year 9s students have now finalised their GCSE choices for next year. Any queries please send them to ks4options@waldegravesch.org . Congratulations to 9EPA for getting the most epraise points this week. They are closely followed by 9PFO. Well done! Unless it is raining, most days are now going to be out days so that students can get some fresh air and enjoy the sunshine. We encourage this so that students can get a chance to stretch their legs, after being inside all day. In order for your child to have a positive day, we recommend that students arrive at school by 8:30am at the very latest so that they can get to their form time punctually by 8:35am. Attendance is the best measure for success as well, especially in these last few weeks of the term, so please do support us in encouraging students to attend school unless unwell. Students should also always be wearing their lanyard when in school, as a part of our safeguarding policy. If they forget then they need to get a lanyard pass from the KS3 hub for that day. Any lost lanyards need replacing, you can do this via parent pay.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Turtles all the way down by John Green.

Turtles all the way down follows the 16 year old character Aza Holmes as she struggles with OCD and anxiety. However, she embarks on a journey to find out the mysterious absence of her ex million best friend’s father, despite the dangers involved within this. I found this book really intriguing as it gives you a first hand perspective on the experiences that people struggling and persevering with mental illnesses face. It also delves into the strong connections of friendships and how they shape you to be the person you are today.
