ABC MENTAL HEALTH MODEL

WHAT DO THE EXPERTS SAY?

Freedom lies within the context of A.B.C. "The Antecedent-Behavior- Consequence (ABC) A model is a tool that can help people examine behaviours they want to change, the triggers behind those behaviours, and the impact of those behaviours on negative or maladaptive patterns. Antecedent Behavior Focuses On Consequences Of Actions." In Laymen terms, an antecedent is what was happening or what/who was present right before the behaviour occurred. Gee gave the example of the alarm clock which was simple for all to understand.

UK Rehab Research say the following “You can use the ABC model to help you get a much clearer idea of what is happening inside of your mind – this knowledge can then allow you to break free of these negative patterns of thought and behaviour.” As we all head into a new day and week, let's take the ABC from the notebook and use it within the real working day and begin to observe how we react in certain situations and tying in with our read yesterday, let's find peace.

THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH

A= Alarm clock B = We get out of bed C = We are not late for work

In wine terms, we can adopt that to being the following empowered and strong position. A = Daily Hola Sober email in your inbox B =Provoking Positive Thinking C = You do not drink today and are connected to your sober community.

“Am I going to war, or am I going to practice peace? You’d be surprised how many opportunities one has to make that choice, over the course of weeks, or an hour. Sometimes we have to make this choice with every sentence we read in the paper, on IG, with every piece of information, and every action from another; if you pay attention, you realize we almost always have the potential to do either. I used to only choose war. It was how I survived, b/c I believed only in a world where survival meant to fight, cling, and defend. And then at some point, it lessened; I noticed.” - Holly Whitaker For September ladies, choose peace where and when possible and seek out ways in which you can find it in your day. Hold your OWN peace and cherish in the moments when our hectic lives start spinning. Your mind, body, and soul will thank you for it..
