Elise was right. The tether worked, pulling them back just as the rift swallowed the landscape. They removed their headsets, finding themselves back in the office, breathing heavily, the screens around them dark. "What was that?" Maya gasped, her eyes wide with shock. "A warning," Elise said, checking the system diagnostics on a flickering monitor. "We’re pushing too hard, too fast. And someone, or something, doesn’t want us here." They looked at each other, realising the gravity of their situation. Whatever game they were playing, the stakes were higher than any of them had anticipated.
