And London fell silent LIKE IN A DREAM A whopping 45 years have passed since Dule Savić scored that legendary 90 th -minute goal against Arsenal in London, thereby inscribing himself in the history of Red Star and Serbian football
Prošlo je 45 godina od kada je Dule Savić dao legendarni gol Arsenalu u Londonu u devedesetom minutu i upisao sebe u istoriju Zvezde i srpskog fudbala
THE MATCH WAS IN ITS CLOSING STAGES when Dušan Savić’s left foot sent the ball crash- ing into Arsenal’s net. And the kind of silence that the English had nev- er previously experienced descend- ed on Highbury Stadium, with the more than 40,000 fans in attend- ance given the opportunity to wit- ness the fearless Red Star in action and to mark the team’s departure from the pitch with well-deserved applause. Now, 45 years after that famous moment and event, a documentary has been shot in honour of the out- standing sportsman who is forever inscribed in the history of the club and Serbian football. The film Dule Savić and Silence in London, detail- ing this famous achievement and the professional life of this footballer, di- rected and written by Branka Bešević Gajić, is now on the repertoires of cinemas nationwide across Serbia. “That night prior to the match with Arsenal in London, I dreamt of scoring a goal in the last minute and of us progressing. When we woke up in the morning, Pižon looked at me, because he knew that it would hap- pen, mostly before big games, that I would dream and, through some of my own symbols in my dream, I would know what was to happen in the game. When we woke up, he would first look at me to see if I was in a good mood and what the sit- uation was like. I winked at him, nodded my head and said “I score a goal; we’re progressing”.

Pižon laughed and later, during a walk after breakfast, I told him what I’d dreamt, that I would score a goal in the last minute and that it would be 1:1. He then said “Shush, don’t jinx it”, and we didn’t talk about it anymore. Everything happened just as I’d dreamt.” Dule Savić was born in Ub in 1955. He started playing football at his local club, Jedinstvo, only to arrive at Marakana in March 1972 to play a trial match, after which he was included in the Red Star youth team. He became a first-team play- er two years later, in 1974, and went on to play a total of 258 games for the club, scoring 149 goals – ranking him third among the club’s all-time top scorers. He won two champion- ship titles, in 1977 and 1980, and one Cup, in 1982. He also played 12 times for the Yugoslav national team, scoring four goals.

Sada, 45 godina nakon slav- nog trenutka i događaja, snimljen je dokumentarni film kao počast istaknutom sportisti koji je za sva vremena upisan u istoriju kluba i srpskog fudbala. O čuvenom do- stignuću i profesionalnom životu
govori film „Dule Savić, a u Lon- donu muk“, čiju režiju i scenario potpisuje Branka Bešević Gajić, a koji je na repertoaru domaćih bioskopa širom Srbije. – Tu noć pred utakmicu sa Ar- senalom u Londonu sanjao sam da dajem gol u poslednjem minutu i da idemo dalje. Ujutru kad smo se probudli, Pižon me je pogledao, pošto je on znao da se uglavnom pred velike utakmice dešavalo da ja sanjam i kroz neke svoje sim- bole u snu znam šta će se desiti na utakmici. Kad smo se probu- dili, on me je prvo pogledao da vidi da li sam raspoložen i kakva
je situacija. Namignuo sam mu, klimnuo glavom i rekao „Dajem gol, idemo dalje“. Pižon se na- smejao i kasnije, nakon doruč- ka, u šetnji sam mu ispričao šta sam sanjao: da ću dati gol u po- slednjem trenutku i da će biti 1:1. Tada je rekao „Ćuti, da ne male- rišeš“ i više o tome nismo priča- li. Sve se desilo upravo onako ka- ko sam sanjao. Dule Savić rođen je 1955. u Ubu, fudbal je počeo da igra u lo- kalnom klubu Jedinstvo, a mar- ta 1972. godine stigao na „Ma- rakanu“ kako bi odigrao probnu utakmicu, nakon koje je odmah
bio uključen u klupski podmla- dak Crvene zvezde. Dve godine kasnije, 1974, postaje prvotimac. Odigrao je 258 zvaničnih utakmi- ca i postigao 149 golova – treći je strelac u istoriji kluba. Osvojio je dve šampionske titule, 1977. i 1980. godine, i jedan Kup 1982. godine. Za reprezentaciju Jugo- slavije odigrao je 12 utakmica i postigao četiri gola.
