Program Guide Winter Guide 2024-2025
Welcome to Your Program Guide!
Dear Girl Scouts,
The leaves are changing, the days are getting cooler, and soon enough, it will be time for cozy activities. Our programming staff has put together a great schedule of winter activities – from classics like Girl Scout Night at the Nutcracker, to exciting new programming across all our focus areas. With Cookie Season kicking off, we know winter is a busy time for Girl Scouts! In this guide, you’ll see more opportunities for families to spend time together, along with our usual amazing slate of events including badge workshops, opportunities in service, STEAM, sports, and even some chances to get outside! Of course, no cookie season is complete without our amazing Cookie U program that will get girls fired up with new skills to make their cookie sales a success! This program guide has new features that make it easy to find events for your Girl Scouts and sign them up! The table at the front of the guide lists every activity by date so you can determine what works with your calendar. Then, you can find all the details on each event, including cost, registration link, and a full description, sorted by focus area: Arts & Entertainment, Civic Engagement & Service, Entrepreneurship & Financial Literacy, Healthy Living & Sports, Outdoor, and STEAM & Trades. At the end of the book, there is also a table that organizes the programming list by age level, so you can quickly peruse all the options for your Girl Scouts.
We can’t wait to see all the fun you have this winter!
Your program team,
Taryn Glidewell, Director of Community Partnerships
Tracy Hull, Director of Girl Program
Lauren Bolt, Director of Outdoor and Adventure Program
Meet the Team! Why do you love working for Girl Scouts?
Check out this Q&A with our Program Directors, then meet the programming staff!
If you could earn any Girl Scout badge, what would you choose? Taryn : If I could earn a Girl Scout badge, it would be the Science of Happiness! I studied Behavior Science in college and love how you can train your brain! OR I love the SOW What? Journey too! Tracy : I know it's not a badge, but I love the Gold Award so much! I really wish I could earn it. Lauren : I would earn the Ambassador Water Badge. I love all things outdoor and love being in the water!
What’s your favorite winter tradition? Taryn : My favorite winter tradition is enjoying the Christmas lights and candlelight during the winter months. I lived in Germany for a little while and loved their charming traditional Christmas markets and ice skating – everyone should experience that! Tracy : I love hiking in the snow! My favorite winter GS traditions are Yule Log and Rolling in the Dough. Lauren : On the first big snow day of every winter, I take my niece and my nephews out for a sledding day. It’s my favorite tradition every winter!
Taryn : I love working for Girl Scouts because it gives me a chance to experience things I wish I got to as a student. We get amazing behind the scenes and unique opportunities and I get to tag along!! Tracy : The people and the adventures. I have been to places and met people I never would have if I worked somewhere else. From all our amazing girls and volunteers to Supreme Court justices and Nobel Peace Prize winners, the humans have been the highlight. A close second has been the places. Because of Girl Scouts I have traveled the world, slept at the Nelson Atkins Art museum, stood on the pitch at CPKC stadium, walked the track at the K, and so much more. Lauren : Definitely the people. Our team at Girl Scouts is absolutely incredible – we help each other out, we work together well, and we have tons of fun!
