Machine Learning in Diagnostic Imaging: Is it Accurate and Should I Really Use It? by Dr. Diane Wilson, DACVR • Yeah, we get it – we still use fax machines in #vetmed. But learn to embrace artificial intelligence (AI), as it’s here to stay. We’re all responsible for learning about the use of AI in our veterinary profession as part of our oath to continually improve our professional knowledge. • Four key elements to developing a responsible AI tool for diagnostic imaging are 1) board-certified radiologists, 2) data scientists, 3) lots of data, and 4) education of end-users. • Proper use of an AI tool for diagnostic image interpretation can improve efficacy & efficiency of patient care, and it starts with understanding what the tool can and cannot do. • Improper use of an AI tool for diagnostic imaging will likely yield no useful information, and it could also yield misinformation and put patients at risk for unnecessary tests or procedures.

Empowering Your Veterinary Team: The Key to Efficiency, Satisfaction, and Growth by Brittany Yost, CVPM, CVBL, CCFP • Hate to break it to you, but you can’t DO IT ALL. Trying to do it all reduces efficiency. Empowering your team by delegating responsibility not only improves workflow, but also boosts employee satisfaction & promotes long-term practice growth. • Delegating responsibilities fulfills the needs of the practice ; empowering employees fulfills the needs of our people . • Develop the habit of acknowledging & reinforcing the positive because recognizing team wins will build morale and motivation. • Evaluate your leadership regularly. • Ask yourself: ◦ Do team meetings foster participation or feel top-down?

◦ Are you actively giving and receiving feedback? Consider anonymous surveys for honest insight ◦ Track employee turnover ◦ Use data to monitor practice efficiency and revenue growth
