Rising Grade K-8 Students : LEAP 2023 Summer Camp Information
Dear Hoboken Parents and Guardians,
The Hoboken Public School District is pleased to announce an all new LEAP Summer Camp! This summer, the LEAP Summer Camp programming will be open to all Hoboken Public School students entering grades K-8 in September 2023.
Each week of LEAP Camp will now bring unique, AM, PM, or Full Day Camp offerings that your child will surely remember! ● AM: 8:00 am - 11:00 am ● PM: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm ● Full Day: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
* Lunch is provided at a cost only if you are signed up for a Full Day Camp, or an AM & PM session.
This summer LEAP Camp will operate (5) 1 week long camps Monday, June 26th and concluding Friday, July 28th. LEAP Camp hours, course offerings, and pricing can be found further within this Parent Guide. As with all Hoboken Public School programming, there is no cost to those families that qualify for the free lunch program.

CAMP SESSION INFORMATION
Full Day Camp Information ● Full Day Camp run from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. ● Lunch and aftercare is provided as an option at cost. Students must be dropped off and picked up according to the locations of the Camp listed in the LEAP Parent Catalog. If you only sign your child up for an AM or PM camp only, lunch and aftercare are not an option. ● If you sign your child up for an AM and PM camp, you will have an option to pay for lunch and aftercare. ● AM Only Camps run from 8:00 am - 11:00 am. ● Students must be dropped off and picked up according to the locations of the Camp listed in the LEAP Parent Catalog. ● If you sign your child up for an AM and PM camp, you will have an option to pay for lunch and aftercare. WALKING SCHOOL BUS The Walking school bus will gather daily at 7:20 in front of Connors School, rain or shine, and walk together to their proper location for the start of the program. Your child must meet at Connors during this time, there are no other pick up points or times related to the Walking School Bus. If you would like to use this free service please indicate as such on your child’s registration. AFTERCARE, grades 6–8 *No aftercare is provided for students in grades 6-8. Inspired by characters in the book Going Places, campers are immersed in real world challenges and hands-on fun. We engineer unique racers, learn about propulsion, experiment with simple machines and design a challenging racecourse. Their challenge this week is to make the Eureka Town parade spectacular and they do this by building a kinetic parade float. Campers use the power of imagination to merge the world of pet care with the tools of technology. Inspired by characters in the book Going Places, campers are immersed in real world challenges and hands-on fun! Characters Maya and Rafael create solar powered lamps for hurricane victims who have no access to electricity. Campers investigate alternative forms of energy and have some fun with the sun. Students are sure to make a splash in this enriching academic experience of Math and Literacy! Makerspace will help kids develop a growth mindset, creating a structure for creativity as they build fun projects such as arcade-style games and catapults. During Play It All! Sports, kids will participate in fun games and learn the basics of basketball, soccer, and more! Kids will learn how a growth mindset creates a structure for creativity as they build fun projects such as cars and bridges. In this class students will explore each planet and what makes it unique. Students will also learn about stars, comets and our moon phases. Using craft supplies, students will create their own replica representations of each topic.

Course Description
This program specially designed for students with a passion for rockets and interstellar travel. Students will learn about a variety of space inventions. Guiding them on their journey into the stars, students will learn through creating cardboard and foam craft models of rockets, satellites, space rovers and more. Students program and build their Wonder Robot - DASH - to complete some amazing tasks. Through drag and drop coding blocks, students learn fundamental coding concepts. They build missions and obstacle courses that result from creative thinking and problem solving. Students participate in a variety of sports including soccer, basketball and tennis. They stay fit while learning the values of teamwork, problem-solving, and good sportsmanship. Going Green teaches children to love and respect the Earth and all she provides. In this camp we will learn about the environment, sustainability, and threats to our planet. Campers will delight in making their own bird feeders and creating toys out of recycled materials! Sustainability is the future! Pirates ahoy - Ahoy there matey! You’re a little pirate, will have a fun filled weekend pirate arts and crafts, infused with science, building real telescope, kaleidoscope, and periscope to take home. Bricks 4 Kidz utilizes WeDo 2.0 and Bluetooth technologies, computer programming and our unique robot models. Children learn to bridge the physical world, represented by our models, tablets and programming software, providing a hands-on learning experience that actively involves young students in their own learning process. Students participate in a variety of sports including soccer, basketball and tennis. They stay fit while learning the values of teamwork, problem-solving, and good sportsmanship. AlphaMinds Academy Summer Chess Program Overview Our Summer Chess Program is the perfect way to introduce the game of chess to new students, deepen their understanding of the game for established players, and offer intensive instruction for aspiring chess masters! During each day's three-hour session, children will engage in interactive chess lessons, solve puzzles (chess and logic), play tournament games, and practice game analysis. Our goal for each jiu jitsu class is to be interactive, challenging, and fun. Each class the students will build on self-defense techniques in a way that is safe and effective. The excitement to master movements and think through technique leads to a boost in physical and mental awareness.
