It’s hard to believe that the start of the holiday season is already upon us. It seems as though the moment that the autumnal season begins, you can blink your eyes once and it’s already time to ring in the new year. While this festive time of year encourages people to gather together with friends and family to break bread and enjoy each other’s company, if your funds are low, planning these celebrations can bring about far more stress than excitement. The nonprofit is a community resource network that promotes available resources and provides emergency services for residents through hunger relief and nutritional education. While they provide groceries to approximately 7,150 households with roughly 891,500 lbs. of food each year, they also open their doors on Thanksgiving to provide a warm meal with turkey to anyone who comes in.
To combat hunger in the San Diego homeless community, Father Joe’s Villages serves hot, nourishing meals 365 day a year. Altogether, staff and volunteers prepare and serve more than 1 million meals each year in our dining rooms and the Franklin Antonio Public Lunch Line.

If you and your family are looking for a place to spend Thanksgiving this year, feel free to head on down to Second Chances Bread of Life to enjoy a delicious feast prepared by volunteers.
In this organization, volunteers help prepare and serve meals twice a week, year-round, but spend extra time concocting a Thanksgiving meal worth remembering. Plus, local teen youth groups are invited to provide special event entertainment during meal times. Don’t let financial strains keep you from celebrating Thanksgiving with a hot meal and good company. There are several locations throughout the community that host their own festive feasts and are inviting any and all locals to come celebrate the holiday with them. Here are a few to consider.

Gather your family and friends and stop by their San Diego location on Thanksgiving day for free drinks and plant-based bites. Early arrival is strongly suggested, but no reservations are necessary.
