As we bid farewell to the Year of the Rabbit and welcome the vibrant energies of the Year of the Dragon, I extend my warmest wishes to all who celebrate the Chinese New Year! May this bright celebration bring you joy, prosperity, and good
stresses of everyday life, even if just for a little while. And what better time to indulge in such joyful pursuits than during the festive season of the Year of the Dragon?

As a dentist who likes to escape the usual routine to fun-filled adventures, I couldn’t help but think of the dragon-themed literary journey I’ve been immersed in lately. While I haven’t been flying on the back of a dragon myself, I’ve been soaring through the fantastical realms of the “Dragon Blood” series by Lindsay Buroker. This light-hearted adventure series, spanning eight captivating books, has been my delightful companion during my drives to and from the office. With each twist and turn of the plot, I find myself transported to a world where dragons roam the skies, magic crackles in the air, and courageous heroes embark on epic quests.
As we usher in the new year, I invite my patients and friends to share their favorite reads. Whether you’re a fan of epic fantasy adventures, heartwarming romance novels, or thrilling mysteries, I’d love to hear about the stories that inspire and entertain you. Join Us in Welcoming Daniel! We’re thrilled to introduce Daniel, our dynamic office manager, who joined our team in May 2023. Daniel’s enthusiasm for patient care and quick grasp of our practice’s front-end intricacies have made him an invaluable addition to our team. Outside of work, Daniel is a devoted father to two daughters, one of whom is graduating from high school. Since joining, Daniel has been eager to master all aspects of our practice, from assisting at the front desk to learning new software. Despite the learning curve, he finds the work incredibly rewarding, especially when ensuring our patients receive the best care possible. It’s clear that Daniel takes pride in his work, as he always likes to kickstart his day early to set up for morning huddles and address any concerns head-on. Every day, he makes sure our patients feel welcomed and cared for, whether it’s checking them in, assisting with their financials, or simply making them a cup of coffee. We asked our front-end maestro what his favorite part of the job is, and he didn’t hesitate to assure us it was the opportunity to meet new patients and build connections with his community. As a dad, he particularly enjoys working with children, who always seem to infect the team with their rambunctious energy.

Despite his busy schedule, Daniel finds time for his passions, including golf, grilling, and staying faithful to his favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers. As he celebrates his 20th wedding anniversary and his daughter’s graduation, Daniel is planning a trip to Europe with his family, fulfilling a lifelong dream. He is excited to explore Italy, including Milan, Rome, Venice, and Tuscany, where they plan to indulge in their love for pasta‑making. We are delighted to have Daniel as part of our team and look forward to the positive impact he will continue to make on our practice and our patients’ lives. CHIPOTLE- INSPIRED CHICKEN BURRITO BOWL
Ingredients • 2 boneless chicken breasts • 2 tbsp olive oil
• 1 avocado, cubed • 1/4 cup sour cream • 1/4 cup shredded cheese For Salsa • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro • 1/2 tomato, chopped • 1/2 onion, chopped • 2 tbsp white vinegar • 4 tbsp lime juice • Salt, to taste
• 1 tsp paprika • 1 tsp cumin • 1/2 tsp chili pepper • 1/2 tsp salt • 1/2 tsp pepper
• 1 cup white or brown rice, cooked • 2 cups shredded romaine lettuce • 1 cup canned corn • 1 cup canned black beans
Directions 1. Cut chicken into bite-size pieces. In a medium-size bowl, add chicken, olive oil, paprika, cumin, chili pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix until chicken is evenly coated. 2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook chicken for 7 minutes or until cooked through. Set aside on a plate. 3. In a large bowl, layer the rice, lettuce, corn, beans, and cooked chicken. 4. In a separate bowl, mix together salsa ingredients, then pour over the chicken mixture. 5. Top with avocado, sour cream, and cheddar cheese. Enjoy!

This Beautiful City Is Straight Out of a Fairy Tale

As spring break nears, you might already have plans to travel to Punta Cana, London, Key West, Paris, or a similar destination city. One more to add to your travel checklist is Sintra, Portugal. This beautiful town rests on the hills of Serra de Sintra, just outside the capital, Lisbon. The two castles within the city are the main draws, and it’s easy to see why.

QUINTA DA REGALEIRA Quinta da Regaleira is the city’s second
significant castle boasting beautiful gardens, but its main draw is the
initiation well. This 80-foot-deep well is a wonder as it sinks into the earth with mossy walls. We suggest you go early, as this is another big attraction for those visiting the city, and officials try to keep people moving as they arrive, mainly as it’s one-way traffic on the steps themselves. Once on the
PENA PALACE AND GARDENS The National Pena Palace and Gardens are absolutely stunning. The palace is adorned in primary colors, with intricately carved yellow, red, and blue buildings. It’ll cost you 10 euros to explore the grounds and a couple of extra euros to go inside, but it’s worth it! The carvings include many styles, including Neo-Islamic and Neo-Renaissance. Everything is opulent, and you’ll have a great time as you take in the extravagance. Some rooms are painted as an optical illusion, with doors and hallways looking three-dimensional when they’re just flat.
