This period of time, preferably in the morning, spent with the Word and with the Lord in prayer, enables the believer to maintain a healthy spiritual glow. During the meeting why not have a testimony time giving the young people an opportunity to tell what the Quiet Hour has meant to them in their spiritual lives, and also to suggest the best time and method in the conduct of the Quiet Hour. STUDY QUESTIONS i| What do you think is meant by “ returning” in Isa. 30:15? Do you think this has reference to a believer coming back to fellowship with the Lord after a backslidden experience? Why not take the time here to discuss together the causes for the cooling heart. List these things on the blackboard and discuss how to overcome them. 2. What is meant by the term “ rest” in Isaiah 30:15? Can you think of other Scriptures which urge the believer to rest in his soul? (cp. Matt. 11:28-30; Isa. 26:3; Psa. 27:14; 37:3-5, etc.) 3. In what sense is there salvation in returning and rest? (Isa. 30:15.) Think of the Scriptures that promise salvation by coming to Christ and resting in Him alone for salvation. 4. What attitude is it that leads to strength in the believer’s life? (Isa. 30:15.) 5. What is so sad about this verse (the last sentence)? (Isa. 30:15.) Show the fact that there must be a personal acceptance of Christ before a man can be saved (John 1:12, etc.) 6. How does a person come to -know the character of God? (Psa. 46:10.) 7. What wonderful promise does God give us in this verse? (Psa. 46:10.) When will this promise be fulfilled? (cp. Matt. 24:1-25:46.) 8. What does Isaiah 40:28 say about God? 9. What promise does this great God give in v. 29? 10. What is the secret of the believer’s spiritual strength? (Isa. 40:31a.) 11. Discuss what you think it means to mount up with wings as eagles, to run and not be weary, and to walk and not faint? (Isa. 40:31.) Ask your pastor to let you look in his commentary if you do not have one of your own. END.
