ARTHRITIS & PHYSICAL THERAPY
Regardless of the cause of arthritis, physical therapy plays a major role in the treatment of arthritis symptoms and should be tried first, before more aggressive procedures such as surgery. While maintaining a healthy weight, exercise and a good diet help, surgical intervention may eventually be needed. However, physical therapy has been shown to be an excellent way to prepare and recover after a total knee or hip replacement. It is very common for the muscles that support the knee, hip, and low back to become weakened from inactivity. Through targeted easy to do exercises, we help your muscles regain their strength, providing greater support to the joints, and reducing inflammation. Furthermore,by improvingbalanceandcoordination, especially to the knee and hip joints, the abnormal strain on the joints is relieved, and safety is improved to reduce risk of further injury. If you or a loved one suffers from arthritis, you still have options. Contact one of our clinics today at Worthington (614-841-3900) or Grandview (614-487-9715) and ask about ongoing physical therapy treatment to restore mobility, comfort and quality of life.

PILATES INSTRUCTOR
I grew up in Westerville and studied dance with Ballet Met and Ohio State University. I then followed my studies to Indiana University where I graduated with a BSOF in Ballet and Kinesiology in 2000. After graduation, I moved to New York City where I danced professionally with Heidi Latsky Dance and several other modern companies. It was in New York City where I found my love of Pilates.
In 2001, I achieved my Stott Pilates certification at Pilates on Fifth in Manhattan. Then in 2005, I received my second full Pilates certification with Pilates Academy International where I taught as a Senior instructor and Certifying Instructor trainer until 2009. Since 2001 I have enjoyed working with many populations, including professional dancers and athletes, pre and post-natal clients and rehabilitation clients. Fitness Matters caters to so many different client abilities which in turn, keeps my passion strong for Pilates. Working with clients day to day on their goals keeps the process flowing and always challenging. I also have certifications in Gyrotonics and Cardiolates.
