5.6.1 Daily life The experience of daily life varied considerably between different social groups in Renaissance society. An individual’s experience was influenced by wealth, gender and location. The wealthy nobles and businesspeople enjoyed luxurious housing with expensive personal items and a rich diet. The shopkeepers and craftsmen owned some property and tools. Day labourers lived in small rented homes and with few possessions. Peasants worked the land, often as sharecroppers, and lived in one-room homes in the countryside.
