Humanities Alive 8 VC 3E

Before you begin Use the Inquiry rubric in the Resources panel to guide and self-assess your task completion.

Inquiry steps Step 1: Questioning and Researching

What sources best show the history of the Spanish conquest of the Americas? Decide which key concepts, like conquest , resistance , culture and change , will be the focus of your presentation. Step 2: Using Historical Sources Identify the sources for your exhibition. Use no more than ten sources, aiming for a mix of written, visual, primary and secondary sources. Step 3: Historical Perspectives and Interpretations Compare the sources you chose with those of your partner or group. Analyse your selections to ensure you have a total of no more than ten sources. Each source needs a caption of around 100 words. This should describe the source, why it’s included, and its importance. If it’s by a Spanish conquistador, mention how his perspective might influence the information. Step 4: Communicating Choose a title for your exhibition that reflects your main ideas. Bring your sources together and present them. You could print images and arrange them on a display board, or create a virtual museum online using a suitable program. Complete your self-assessment using the Inquiry rubric or access the 6.7 exercise set to complete it online.
