The Great Dividing Range The Great Dividing Range, located primarily along the east coast of Australia, is one of the longest mountain ranges in the world. It extends 3500 kilometres from North Queensland in the north to the Grampians in Victoria in the south. It is the longest continuous mountain range found in a single country and is Australia’s most pronounced topographical feature. The highest peak in the Great Dividing Range is Mt Kosciuszko at 2228 metres.

3 TheAndes The Andes are located in South America, extending north to south along the western coast of the continent. The Andes are the second-highest mountain range in the world, with many of its mountains reaching over 6000 metres in height. At 7200 kilometres long, this is also the longest mountain range in the world.

4 The Rocky Mountains The Rocky Mountains in western North America extend north–south from Canada to New Mexico, a distance of around 4800 kilometres. The highest peak is Mount Elbert, in Colorado in the United States, which has a height of 4401 metres above sea level. The other large mountain range in North America is the Appalachian Mountains, which extend 2400 kilometres from Canada in the north to Alabama in the southern United States.
