LEARNING INTENTION By the end of this lesson you will be able to use a cost–beneýt analysis to effectively evaluate abusiness opportunity.
20.5.1 Tell me Evaluating means to propose explanations for events or issues and to make overall judgements based on the evidence. This is a skill that you might develop in Economics and Business by looking at the beneýts or advantages of something and then examining its costs or disadvantages. A cost–beneýt analysis is a detailed examination of the strengths and weaknesses of different alternatives in order to see whether the beneýts outweigh the costs. The principle behind a cost–beneýt analysis is that you should only decide to act on an alternative if the beneýt from taking it is greater than the cost.
