LESSON 3.1 Overview

INQUIRY QUESTION What were the significant social, cultural, economic, environmental and political features of life in Medieval Europe? Some traditions from the Middle Ages still exist today. For instance, Australia, colonised 300 years after the Middle Ages, still has a monarch whose role dates back to that time. Many Australians follow Christianity or Islam, both of which grew during the Middle Ages, and major conflicts involving these religions began then. European countries as we now know them, started to form during this period, and the English language developed significantly. We may no longer have castles or knights, but many traditions, events and nations have their roots in the Middle Ages.
