TAMPA BAY WELCOMES THE MEMBERS OF KAPPA ALPHA PSI FRATERNITY, INC.

The heart of Florida’s Gulf Coast gears up to host the historic fraternity’s 86 th Konclave on the Bay national convention

T ampa Bay is ready to roll out the crimson carpet and welcome the distinguished men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. to the destination. The first of the Divine Nine, a national Pan-Hellenic Council composed of historically African American fraternities and sororities, to host a national convention in Tampa Bay. The renowned fraternity will host its 86th Konclave on the Bay na- tional convention from July 18 th - 22 nd , kicking off with its 86th Grand Chapter Meeting on Tuesday, July 18th at the Tampa Convention Center. At the 8 6th Grand Chapter Meeting, members of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will come together to unveil future business strategies for the organization and offer fellowship to other members from across the globe. As part of its com- munity giveback program, the fraternity will also present The Skills Center Tampa with an award and a $75,000 check for its outstanding community work. “We are looking forward to welcoming the men of such a historic and illustrious organization to experience the Tampa Bay Effect,” said Santiago C. Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay. “With the addition of new hotels, the expan- sion of the Tampa Convention Center and the opening of new restaurants and attractions, Tampa Bay is poised to welcome large meetings and conventions such as the 86th Grand Chapter Meeting.” While in destination, the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will host numerous events and activities to highlight local businesses that include a visit to the Tampa History Center’s

‘Travails and Triumphs’ exhibit that showcases Tampa’s rich and varied black culture, a Krimson Takeover Party at Arma- ture Works, a Kreme Kulture Jam at The Florida Aquarium and a family outing at the Tampa Riverwalk to take in the breathtaking views of the Hillsborough River. “We are excited to host the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.’s Grand Chapter Meeting in the heart of Florida’s Gulf Coast under the theme of ‘Konclave on the Bay’,” said Reuben A. Shelton III, Esq., Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc. “With a diverse array of attractions, authentic culture and an exquisite culinary scene, Tampa Bay will serve as an excellent destination for our 86th Grand Chapter Meet- ing and official affiliate events.” The organization will bring in 15,000+ attendees to Hill- sborough County and is projected to produce roughly $8.6 million and bring more than $15 million in economic impact to Hillsborough County.
