Task 2 is an Integrated task. You read an article related to something about university life. It might be a let- ter from a student in the campus newspaper, or it might be an announcement of a new university policy. You can take notes while you read . Then the reading disappears, and you hear a conversation between two people discussing the information in the article. One of the people will describe his or her opinion of the information. The question will ask you about what the article stated and what that person’s opinion was . After you hear the question, you have 30 seconds to prepare your answer and then 60 seconds to speak .

The woman expresses her opinion of the plan described in the article . Briefly summarize the plan . Then state her opinion about the plan and explain the reasons she gives for holding that opinion .
Sample Question:
Task 3 is an Integrated task. You will read an excerpt from a textbook with general information about a term or concept. Then you will hear a lecture excerpt on the same topic but with more specific informa- tion, such as examples or an illustration of the concept. For example, if you read a passage explaining the concept of “revealing coloration” in animals, and then hear part of a lecture giving examples of two animals that use revealing coloration, the question could look like the one on your handout. You have 30 seconds to prepare your answer and then 60 seconds to speak.
