I am both pleased and honored to write this letter in support of Brother John F. Burrell as a candidate for the Elder Watson Diggs Award. Brother Burrell is an exceptional individual with impeccable bearing, positive attitude, and a tireless work ethic. Moreover, his talents and leadership qualities have been instrumental towards a variety of domains, which have encouraged me to professionally grow and adhere to the motto and objectives of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Brother Burrell was my mentor from 1997-2001 where I was a member of The Jacksonville (FL) Alumni Chapter (S) Guide Right Kappa League program. Throughout this time Brother Burrell constantly ensured that I remained focused on my grades and participated in every opportunity I had to give back to my community. Although my dad lived here in Jacksonville and was in my life, I always felt like Brother Burrell was more of a father figure to me. As a young African American man, having someone that I knew would be there for me and would always look out for my best interest reassured me that he was a genuine and caring person. Brother Burrell’s leadership ability to take on a vital role as National MTA Chairman and currently Executive Director clearly show his passion and respect for the Fraternity and all its members. As we continue to grow the Fraternity and achieving more under your leadership, I also look forward to the many things that Brother Burrell continues to achieve for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, the Southern Province, and the Jacksonville (FL) Alumni Chapter.
