In response to your request for a recommendation for Brother John F. Burrell, a petitioner for the second highest award available to a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; the Elder Watson Diggs Award, it is my pleasure as a retired educator of thirty-seven years of the Duval County school system, Jacksonville, Florida to recommend him to you without reservation. I have known Brother Burrell for the past twenty-one years and have worked with him on several committees during that time representing the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter and the Southern Province. During the time of my acquaintance/working with Brother Burrell , I’ve found him to be a very caring person and always willing to lend a helping hand. His high moral character and his sense of responsibility make him an extremely trustworthy person. Furthermore, he is self-motivated and diligently performs any given tasks successfully. He has proven to be a take- charge person who is able to successfully provide excellent direction and mentoring advice to not only his committee members but the undergraduate and fraternity as well. His communication skills are outstanding and he is always professional in his undertaking. Brother Burrell ’s resume exemplifies all of the fine qualities that he possesses and many more. I believe a person of his character, possessing the aforementioned qualities, would be an excellent recipient/brother
