B HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell was born in Jackson, Mississippi and reared in Vicksburg, Mississippi where he attended Vicksburg High School and graduated with honors, and W HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell after high school attended Hinds Community College and then matriculated to the University of Southern Mississippi where he enrolled into the Athletic Training Program, and W HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell while at the University of Southern Mississippi served as President of the USM Student Athletic Training Club; was a student athletic trainer for the football team, men’s basketball team & women’s basketball team; and also worked as a summer assistant athletic trainer for the Atlanta Falcons for five years, and W HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell’s first job was as a graduate assistant at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA and in 1992 became Head Athletic Trainer at Alcorn State University, and W HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell in 1995 was selected out of 400 candidates for a position as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Jacksonville Jaguars and later became Head Athletic Trainer of the Washington Redskins and is licensed as an athletic trainer in the state of Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, & Virginia, and W HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell while in Florida was twice appointed to the Board of Athletic Trainers which serves to regulate the practice of athletic training and worked as a Contracts Compliance Officer with the City of Jacksonville, and W HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell is a 1988 initiate of the University of Southern Mississippi Chapter, the Kappa Iota of Kappa Alpha Psi ® and served the chapter as Polemarch, Membership Intake Chairman, then later as Chairman of the Undergraduate Advisory Committee through the Hattiesburg (MS) Alumni Chapter, and W HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell is a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi ® , the Eastern Province, Middle Western Province, Northeastern Province, East Central Province, Southern Province, & Southwestern Province, and supports the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation as a member of the Million Dollar Club, and W HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell has served as Undergraduate Chapter Advisor at the Alcorn State University Chapter, the Gamma Pi of Kappa Alpha Psi ® and as the 33 rd Polemarch of the Jacksonville (FL) Alumni Chapter, which during his tenure was a recipient of the 2003 76 th Conclave Paul W. Caine Large Alumni Chapter of the Year, and W HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell was a member of the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter and served the Eastern Province on the Membership Orientation Intake Program Committee before returning to Jacksonville, FL, and W HEREAS , Brother John F. Burrell currently serves as the 10 th Executive Director of Kappa Alpha Psi ® , having previously served as Interim Deputy Executive Director; National Chairman of the Membership Training Academy; National Chairman of the Membership Orientation Intake Program; Southern Province Board of Directors; Membership Training Academy Committee; and Province Planning Committee, NOW THEREFORE E IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE J ACKSONVILLE (FL) A LUMNI C HAPTER OF K APPA A LPHA P SI F RATERNITY , I NC ., that Brother John F. Burrell be lauded for his continued personal, professional and fraternal service and achievements, and E IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE J ACKSONVILLE (FL) A LUMNI C HAPTER OF K APPA A LPHA P SI F RATERNITY , I NC ., that Brother John F. Burrell be endorsed unanimously as a candidate for the Elder Watson Diggs Award by the Chapter, and B E IT FINALLY RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE J ACKSONVILLE (FL) A LUMNI C HAPTER OF K APPA A LPHA P SI F RATERNITY , I NC ., that a resolution of support for his candidacy be requested by the Southern Province Board of Directors to be submitted at the 69 th Southern Province Council and subsequently forwarded to the Grand Board of Directors along with his petition as a candidate for the Elder Watson Diggs Award.
