Cintra CEO dons thermals in CEO Sleepout ON A cold and blustery evening, Cintra chief executive officer (CEO) Carsten Staehr – armed with sleeping bag, thermal socks and woolly hat – joined fellow north east businessmen and women to take part in the fourth annual CEO Sleepout. Business leaders from across the region spent the night sleeping at the side of the pitch at Newcastle United football club in an effort to raise awareness and funds to support the homeless and those living in crisis. The last sleepout raised a total of £80,000, making it the largest outside London. Funds raised from the sponsored sleepout will be split between the Newcastle United Foundation, CEO Sleepout UK and Team Valley-based charity and Cintra client, Changing Lives. Newcastle United Foundation uses the funds to support its Homeless Football Club, as well as supporting community engagement programmes. The Foundation also encourages participants to get involved in their employability programmes such as Talent Match and League Works to support their transition back into employment.

The funds raised during last year’s CEO Sleepout event are helping Changing Lives provide guidance to people in crisis and help them avoid becoming homeless. Stephen Bell, CEO of Changing Lives said: “We were completely overwhelmed by the level of support for the event and we’re delighted that we have beaten last year’s phenomenal total.” Carsten was delighted to be supporting Changing Lives: “This is a fantastic initiative. I am lucky that sleeping out was my choice – many people are not so fortunate and I am happy to be able to do my part to raise much needed funds for those in crisis. Cintra participate in many charitable initiatives during the course of the year: colleagues, clients, family and friends are always incredibly supportive and we appreciate how much they back our efforts.” In this period of austerity, which has hit some of the most disadvantaged in our community hardest, all support for this initiative is guaranteed to have a positive impact. The sleepout has so far raised in excess of £83,000. If you would like to support Carsten, please visit http://bit.ly/2oPGBTl; all donations gratefully received, no matter how large or small.
