Instructor Qualification Standard / V2 DRAFT 2025-08-26_

The instructor shall:

1.1.2 Enable participants to reflect individually and discuss with other participants their learning from previous day/s. This should be organized in practical, participant centred learning activities based on the principles of cooperative learning structures where participants reflect and discuss with other participants based on generic learning facilitating questions prepared by the trainer such as “What are your takeaways from yesterday?” or “How can you apply what you learned yesterday?”. Recommended sequence: A. individual reflection, B. discussions in pairs (or small groups), C. repeat B. with new partner once or twice, D. wrap up in class inviting (a few) participants to share their highlights. A. and C. may be skipped depending on the activity/exercise and how it’s organized 1.1.3 Address participants questions and reflections, and when doing so, connect it to how an instructor in practice can apply the theory, models, principles and/or methodology taught when planning training, delivering training and/or conducting participant performance assessment

1.1.4 On completion of the catch-up activities, allow participants a short period of quiet time to organize their thoughts and take notes or the like in their learner log or other reflection tools

1.1.5 Present the plan and motivation, including overall aims and learning objectives, for the day to come

The participants shall:

1.1.6 Engage in practical reflection activities, share reflections and take time to ask clarifying questions on any training related topic

1.1.7 On their own initiative and to the extent of their own needs take notes or the like in their learner log or other reflection tools during and/or on completion of the reflection activities

LEARNING REFLECTIONS The aim of a reflection session is to support the participants’ learning focusing on the importance of taking time the time to reflect and consolidate learning experiences. It is to provide time for participants to reflect on daily activities and capture their learning experiences in a structured manner promoting their continuous learning process.

The instructor shall:

1.1.8 Provide guidance as required in the completion of learner logs or other reflection tools

1.1.9 Ensure a period of quiet time for participants to individually and mentally organize their thoughts and take notes or the like in their learner log and/or other reflective tools to as means of mentally organizing their thoughts and capture recent learnings, wonderments, realizations and ideas
