5.1.273 Lead a discussion identifying the types of questioning suitable for assessing learning, investigating participant experiences, initiate reflections
5.1.274 Initiate and facilitate a group assignment
5.1.275 Conclude the exercise with reflections on their experience and learning from the exercise
The participants shall:
5.1.276 Participate in group discussions, identifying different types of question styles and their application
5.1.277 Apply their understanding of question styles into a teaching plan for a given outcome
5.1.278 Work in small groups to outline the best question styles for their teaching practices
5.1.279 Share experiences within the group
LESSON 12 – ASSESMENT
The instructor shall:
5.1.280 Facilitate discussion around the correlation between the didactical elements of; course participants’ learning prerequisites, training aims and learning objectives, and course assessment, and how the concept of Backwards planning model this correlation indicating training summative assessment
5.1.281 Facilitate discussion around the purpose of assessment and how to ensure the chosen assessment measures appropriately measure learning, covering as a minimum how the instructor/assessor shall:
a. continuously assess participant engagement and learning by means of direct observation and by actively asking participants to share their understandings and reflect on their actions and considerations. This is all done against the course and lesson aims and learning objectives b. assess each participant’s efforts by direct observation: Spotting indications of progression in the participant’s behaviour i.e. capturing what the participant; does/does not do, say/does not say, their facial and body language, initiatives and impression of confidence and believing in their own abilities (self-efficacy) – indicating that understanding, practical skills and abilities are progressing, or not progressing, towards the aims and learning objectives of the course. “Aha-moments” with the participant is a clear indication of learning
c. ask participants to demonstrate a specific practical element which most likely will provide the instructor/assessor with specific indications related to the course aims and learning objectives
d. provide participants with instruction, guidance and feedback as required to facilitate progression towards the course aims and learning objectives, as well as ensure required safety standards are met during training
e. enforce the GWO Participant Performance Assessment Form (according to GWO requirements) as means of:
