The Panthers win first series against the Prédateurs

The first game in the second round will be this Friday, March 6, at 8 p.m., in Embrun. The secondmatch will be held this Saturday, at 7:30 p.m., in Cumberland. “Last time we lost in the series, it was against Cumberland, so they owe us this one. The Bandits are a hard-working team. They have a strong work ethic.” During the first playoff,
no less than six goals interspersed with three goals from the Prédateurs. Josh Renaud scored two goals accompanied by those from Ryan Kemp, Bernie Murdock, Julien Grégoire and a second for Adam Fillion. La Pêche could only limit to three the Panthers’ goals in the last period. Eric Dubois
scored Embrun’s tenth goal. Justin Raymond followed by two consecutive goals. In the other playoffs, the Saint-Isidore Eagles took five games to oust the Gatineau Olympics. They will face the Papineau Vikings who beat the NorthDundas Rockets also in five games.
The Panthers only needed four games to beat the La Pêche Prédateurs in the first round of the National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL) playoffs. “It was a very good
playoff. We knew La Pêche had a good offensive so we had to adjust our defensive. We were a little slow to start, coming back from a two- week break. But we were able to stay in the game”, said head coach Jay Campbell. The Embrun Panthers will now face the Cumberland Bandits in the semi-finals. The Bandits got the best of
the Predators had clearly thrown in the towel on Wednesday, February 25, giving a 13-4 victory to Embrun. The Panthers had already
imposed their rhythm in the first period, taking a comfortable 4-1 lead. AdamFillion, Daniel Cogan, Cody Lavictoire and Chad Robillard all scored against the La Pêche goalie. In the second period, Jay Campbell’s team continued with the lessons this time, scoring
the Vankleek Hill Cougars in seven games. In the regular season, the Panthers had no troubles with Cumberland ending with a perfect score of 4 victories and no defeats.

Puis, la manche qui a déterminé la victoire a été gagnée en force au compte de 25 à 9. Les Cyclones n’ont perdu aucune manche du tournoi. Les joueuses auront donc la chance de représenter leur région, en province. Elles s’installeront donc à Hamilton, du 9 au 11 mars prochain, pour participer au Tournoi provincial auquel participeront 16 équipes scolaires de l’Ontario. Dans les cinq der- nières années, l’ESCE a réussi à participer à trois reprises à cet important tournoi et a rapporté à la maison des médailles d›or en 2011 et 2012.

Le 26 février dernier, les Cyclones de l’École secondaire catholique Embrun ont parti- cipé au Championnat féminin de volleyball Senior des écoles de 500 élèves et moins de l›Est de l›Ontario (EOSSAA simple A) où elles ont affronté cinq écoles de différentes ligues de l›Est ontarien. Les Cyclones ont terminé en beauté puisque l’équipe s’est qualifiée pour le tour- noi provincial. Les joueuses se sont classées premières dans la ronde du classement, pour ensuite atteindre les demi-finales contre l’École secondaire catholiqueMarie-Rivier, de Kingston. Après ce gain, les filles ont en- suite joué contre St. Joseph’s High School,
