Same view, different horse: Celebrating 100 years of the Weaver Ranch
Owned and homesteaded by the Kaiser family at the turn on the century, the above is the view from the homeplace site in 1900, twenty-five years before Elmer Weaver’s purchase in 1925. The endpapers to Mary Kaiser’s memoir, Grip of the Bear Paws , this initial photo inspired Stan to have the oil painting below com- missioned. The painting is by Clarence Cuts the Rope, a Gros Ventre landscape artist, who was inducted into the Montana Cowboy Hall Of Fame in 2024. The painting was commissioned in 1981, the same year Stan and Nancy began the breeding program with the purchase of Stormy Dun Dee.
