New Facility In Mobile Puts Us In Position For Bright Future We continue to invest in facility enhancements, because they put us in position to grow for the future, attract like-minded associates and bring more shipments of all kinds into our system. Our project that we recently completed in Mobile is a prime example of that commitment. The new service center features 50% more dock doors, a 120,000-square-foot warehouse, a two-bay shop, a state-of-the-art automated truck wash, scales, and a Driver Support Center that will provide over-the-road drivers with comforts of home. “Our associates are very, very excited and over the moon about what we have and what we’ve invested,” says DAVID MCGONAGILL of our regional leadership. “We feel like it will help us attract new associates to the team. Before, we were limited in our hiring – we just did not have the space. As we bring on new business, we will have plenty of space to grow for the future.” PRIME TIME David points to industry trends that make Mobile an ideal location to invest – more freight continues to move from the West Coast to the South, and Mobile is in the process of dredging that will increase the port depth to 50 feet and allow for larger ships to enter that important gateway. “The Port of Mobile’s business was up more than 40% in 2022,” David explains. “And the relationship that we have with the port speaks volumes about our future. They’ve gone above and beyond to partner with us and bring in customers for tours. They’re doing what they can to bring in more business to Mobile, and we’re teaming up with them to help accomplish that. There are a lot of unique things going on at the Port of Mobile, and it seems to be the next hot place for customers to bring their freight.” ED SMITH, our Vice President of Distribution & Fulfillment, shares that same enthusiasm. “This new facility will enhance our current service offerings, and it will give us the leading distribution facility in the region,” Ed says. “Our ability to service the growing export market through the Port of Mobile will be unmatched.” LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION It also helps that the new facility is in a strategic location that will help us move more freight In And Out Of The South. “We found land that’s not far from the port, right off of I-10 and very close to I-65,” David explains. “We have a facility that’s large enough to accommodate warehousing and transloading. That puts us in good shape now and for the future to grow.” David adds, “If we can capture more of this business that’s coming in over the Port of Mobile, especially the customers who are interested in our warehousing, obviously it’s going to start to feed our LTL network back through the system. That’s what we’re hoping for. We don’t want freight just sitting in a warehouse. We want freight that we can transload to come into the warehouse and create

freight bills outbound to feed the system.”

ECO-FRIENDLY EXPANSION In addition to the amenities that associates and customers are sure to love, there’s also an environmental aspect to our Mobile enhancements. “We’ve been using a lot of electric forklifts in our warehouses, and Mobile is the first facility to go electric for both LTL and warehousing,” explains Service Center Director MARK WALTERS. “We’re now totally electric with our forklifts. Every light on the property is LED, and they’re set to where if there’s no motion for a certain period of time, they’ll turn off. Having motion-sensor lights will save a lot of energy.” We’re excited about our new facility in Mobile, and that expansion is made possible by your commitment to delivering excellence each day. We can’t wait to see what the future holds in Mobile – with extra room to grow, great things are definitely ahead in the Gulf and throughout our network! T m

SURVEY SAYS... Customers Most Likely To Recommend AVERITT

Mastio & Company, an independent research agency, released the results of its most recent survey. After polling more than 1,600 shippers, the survey showed that Averitt earned recognition in several categories, including being named as the carrier most likely to be referred by one shipper to another by more than five percentage points! “Recognition like this reflects how important our culture is to our customers,” says BARRY BLAKELY of our executive leadership. “Because of our associates’ focus on teamwork and creativity, customers continue to see the difference in partnering with us. We like to say ‘Our Driving Force Is People,’ and results like this are proof positive that is true.” This recognition comes on the heels of recently earning five Quest for Quality awards, which are also driven by customer input. Coupled with other recent awards from customers and supply chain partners, it’s obvious that YOU make a positive impact on our customers. It also shows that what we’re doing is working: focusing on the fundamentals, achieving our KPI goals, working together as a team… it all results in customer satisfaction, which means continued growth and more opportunities for everyone! “The Mastio honors are a very big deal to shippers and carriers,” says Thanks to your commitment to service, innovation, safety and professionalism, our customers have recognized our team as one they trust and would recommend to others. In fact, according to a recent industry study, we outpaced our competition by a significant amount!

KENT WILLIAMS of our executive leadership. “Mastio and Quest for Quality are the gold standards when it comes to recognition and performance in our industry. We excelled in both of these, and that’s a testament to the dedication of our associates.” Thank you for all you do to make awards like these possible. Your efforts are earning our customers’ trust, and you’re helping us build toward an even brighter future! To see a list of awards our team has earned, visit Averitt.com/Awards. T m

GROWING OUR PARTNERSHIP New Dedicated Account Is Longstanding LTL, Truckload Customer

That has been the case for NCH, a water treatment solutions company based in Irving, TX. For about 20 years, we’ve provided LTL and Truckload services to NCH. Now, NCH has expanded that relationship to include a Dedicated fleet. “This was a big decision for them,” says JOHN CREAMER of our Dedicated operations leadership. When we deliver outstanding service to our customers, it opens the door for more opportunities to grow our partnerships.

“From meeting with NCH, you can tell they care very deeply about their people. I think culturally, they seem to be very aligned with Averitt. They’re very associate-focused.” We currently have 10 total drivers – eight over-the- road and two local – who deliver water-treatment chemicals from

talking to us about a small fleet at another location,” John adds. “There is definitely the opportunity for growth.”

This account is just another example of what’s possible with The Power of One. Because we have the ability to be a one-stop shop for transportation solutions, customers can take care of all their needs through our service offerings – LTL, Truckload, Dedicated, Distribution & Fulfillment or Integrated. Your commitment to excellence makes successes like these possible. Thank you for making it happen! T m

Atlanta-Area Frontline Leaders Started On The Dock ‘ALWAYS BEEN DRIVEN’

When SIDNEY GARY came to Averitt in 2015, he knew he wanted a place where he could build a career and grow. He’s found exactly that, and he’s looking forward to seeing where the journey takes him. “I’ve always been driven,” explains Sidney, who was hired as a part- time dock associate in Charlotte and was recently promoted to a frontline leadership role at Atlanta East. “I want to excel in everything I do. I want to give my best and be the best I can be.” Sidney credits Charlotte operations manager RODNEY TATE with helping him develop to where he is today. “He put me in exactly the right places so I was able to learn and grow into many positions,” Sidney explains. “I’ve worked every dock position, which taught me to become the leader that I am. It’s been wonderful. I’d never had this type of leadership, and that’s what I’m looking forward to growing into.” Sidney adds that our culture gave him the confidence to know that transferring to a new facility was the right move. “I look forward to growing even more as a leader,” he says. “Averitt is a wonderful company and has been a blessing to me. I can’t say enough good things.” Sidney encourages other associates to take the next step if they want to grow in their own careers. “I ask associates all the time at the service center, ‘What are you looking for? You’ve got to know what you’re looking for before you can move,’” he says. “And be willing to step out of your comfort zone. Otherwise, you’ll still be in the same place doing the same thing.” ‘MAKE A PLAN, AND EXECUTE THE PLAN’ ANTHONY MOORE is another Atlanta-area frontline leader who has grown in

his Averitt career. Anthony – who recently celebrated 25 years of service – came to Averitt after serving in the Air Force and following a stint working for the Olympic Committee, where he arranged logistics for the field hockey events. “Averitt has been a great company,” says Anthony, who started on the dock, and worked as a yard hostler and a lead man before being promoted to frontline leader at Atlanta West in 2019. “I haven’t had many jobs in my life. I’m 50 years old, and I’ve been at Averitt half my life. I’ve met good people and great friends here who I’m still friends with today. It’s been a great company that has taken care of me.” Anthony credits our people with his success. “Once I became a frontline leader, I tried to surround myself with intelligent people, people who work hard, and people I can trust and rely on,” he explains. “That’s really the key to my success – it's who I surround myself with.” Anthony shares his tips for associates who want to experience career growth. “You have to let leadership know that you’re ready to grow,” he says. “A lot of people work really well, and they’re just quiet and they can get stuck doing the same thing even though they want more. You have to let somebody know you’re ready to grow. Then make a plan, and execute the plan.” ARE YOU READY TO GROW? If you’re ready to take the next step in your Averitt career, check out our Job Hotline that is now available on MyPortal to see a list of open positions. The hotline is updated on Mondays and Thursdays, so we encourage you to check it often to stay up to date on the newest openings. ‘I REFER AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN’

Expeditors Driver Thankful To Be With Averitt

MICHAEL ROBERTS is glad to be part of our team, and because of the experience he ’ s had, he refers as many People Like You as possible. “I always tell people that Averitt is a great company to work for,” says Michael, who is a Dedicated driver with our Expeditors account. “The benefits and the 401(k) are great. A lot of companies will do the match of a few percent, and we’re over here tripling that. I tell people, ‘I could go on for days talking about Averitt. You’ve gotta check it out for yourself.’ I try to refer as many people as I can so they can get hired on.” Before transferring to our Dedicated team, Michael was a city driver at Memphis for a couple years, and he previously spent about seven months in Truckload. Being in the backyard of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, he’s a strong proponent of Averitt Cares for Kids. “Donating to St. Jude is very dear to my heart,” he says. Michael is also a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard, and his unit has been a great source for referrals. “I’m in a transportation unit,” Michael explains. “Everybody that I’m in with has a CDL, and everyone drives trucks on both sides. That really helps me out.” The same family atmosphere of a unit is one of the biggest reasons Michael is proud to wear the Averitt uniform. “Whenever people come up to me, they ask, ‘Hey, what do you think

about Averitt? Do you like it there?’ And I say, ‘I’m not blowing smoke or anything. I love it because it’s very family-oriented,’” he says. “Averitt will work with you on things like home time. It ’ s a large company with a smalltown vibe to it. That’s why I enjoy it.” There are some specific attributes Michael looks for when he’s referring People Like You. “It’s the way people carry themselves,” he says. “And I know that Averitt looks for people who are professional, with the hair and grooming policy and how they dress. You have to present yourself in a professional manner. If they ’ re climbing out of the truck in flip-flops and look like they’ve been on the road for six months, I’m not looking for that.” Thank you, Michael, for helping us grow and keep our culture strong for the future through People Like You referrals! Knoxville dock mentor STEVE MARINE takes pride in setting a good example for his teammates. In fact, he's been so good at that over the years that he inspired his son, ANTHONY, to join our team as well. Like father, like son Steve has been with Averitt for 30 years, with much of that time spent at our Birmingham service center before transferring to the Volunteer State. He’s also lent his expertise across our network, truly earning his name as a “mentor.” “A lot of people at the corporate office and at other facilities know who Steve Marine is because of his willingness to step up and help out other service centers when we need it,” says AMOS ROGAN of our LTL operations leadership. “He’s someone we can always depend on. If we need help and need things done the right way, we can call on him.” Anthony certainly learned a thing or two, and he has followed in Steve’s footsteps as a dock mentor in Birmingham. “As a kid, dad worked here in Birmingham for so many years. I kind of grew up with Averitt,” recalls Anthony, who has been with our team since 2013. “I would come up to the service center every now and then, and I met a bunch of people and saw how Averitt operated. Dad worked hard, and Averitt was good to him. I knew when I got older, I could have a good career right here at Averitt.” And when that opportunity came, Steve passed along some fatherly advice. “He came home and asked me what I thought about working at Averitt,” Steve says. “I told him, ‘Averitt is a career. It’s not a place you leave after a THE TWO, THE PROUD, THE MARINES

year or two. It’s a place where you can make a career out of it.” Once Anthony was hired, Steve shared with him the importance of communication and skill on the dock. “Communication is a big key,” he says. “There are dock associates here who have been with Averitt for 35 years. It’s like building a puzzle. When Anthony came on, he said, ‘Dad, I can drive that forklift.’ I said, ‘Son, there’s a difference between driving one and operating one. If you can operate it, then you’re doing good.” Anthony is thankful for everything he’s learned from his dad. “He pretty much taught me everything I know now,” he says. “I wouldn’t be the man I am today without him. I’m trying to help teach all the new people we have in Birmingham. I want to have everybody here on the same page. Communication and working together are very important.” Anthony says it’s all about making a lasting legacy. “I want to raise my family and be just like he’s been and have a career at Averitt,” he explains. “Maybe one day I can sit back and tell my kids, ‘Grandpa and I both worked more than 30 years at Averitt.’” DO YOU WANT TO BE A MENTOR? Do you have the experience and know-how to be a dock mentor for associates at your facility? If you’re interested in completing our Dock Mentor Program, reach out to your leader to learn more about the program and the selection process. 30 YEARS AND GOING STRONG

Roanoke Team Celebrates Milestone Consistency. Stability. Family atmosphere. Those themes are among the many reasons our team remains successful. And they’re why our Roanoke service center recently celebrated 30 years of service. Since opening in November 1993, our Roanoke team has grown almost five-fold, now featuring about 45 associates on the LTL side. Three associates have seen that growth firsthand from the beginning – admin associate MELODY SINK, and shuttle drivers TOMMY CARTER and TIM LYLE. “I’m very proud to say that I started out with Averitt Express here in Roanoke and have been part of watching it grow into what it is now and the success we’ve had here,” Melody says. “We have a good team here and throughout the system, and that’s what makes it work. We all work together to make things happen.” “It’s like a family,” Tim adds. “If we have a challenge, we work it out and find out how to fix it. It’s been an amazing experience.” ALL ABOUT OUR PEOPLE Our focus on people and excellence has helped our Roanoke team build a strong reputation. “The number one thing I’ve always heard from customers above everything else – it’s not about the money or the pricing of Averitt – it’s about how the drivers treat the customers and how we handle their freight,” Tommy explains. “The drivers are always neat, the uniforms are clean, we have good equipment, and the on-time service is excellent.” Roanoke Service Center Director JEREMY HALL says his associates are consistent and persistent. “We do what we promise, we’re reliable, and we do the best we can for our customers and don’t let them down,” says Jeremy, who has been with Averitt for 27 years. “In Roanoke, our driving force and dock associates, they’re constantly bringing leads and opportunities to us. They’ll say, ‘Hey, I saw this trailer dropped at this customer. I’ve never seen it before.’ They always have their eyes and ears

open. Our group effort continues to allow us to have success here and for Averitt as a whole.” IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL Our Over 20 Team brings great experience to Averitt, and our Roanoke team’s “Over 20” representation is particularly impressive. More than 25% of associates there have been with Averitt for 20-plus years. “I like to ‘hire to retire,’ Jeremy says. “I’ll tell our associates that when I’m interviewing them. ‘I don’t want to retire you until 25-40 years from now. Tell me if you’re on board or not.’” That eye toward building a strong team for the future is all about our Winner’s Circle. “The ability to take care of customers and associates develops that end result of a bright future,” Jeremy says. “It’s a credit to Mr. Sasser that he’s never at idle. He’s always looking to keep growing and keep developing. That future just gets brighter and brighter for our associates.” Congratulations, Roanoke, on your 30-year milestone! Thank you for being an important part of our success in Virginia, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for you and our entire team! Associate Earns Espresso Machine Through Red Thinkin’ Rewards

Lexington preventive maintenance associate JEREMIAH CARTER has known for some time about our Red Thinkin’ Rewards program, which allows you to earn points for things you do every day.

Lexington preventive maintenance associate JEREMIAH CARTER recently cashed in his Red Thinkin ’ Rewards points for a Barista Pro Espresso machine.

But he was certainly surprised when he found out he could cash in his points on a Barista Pro Espresso machine. “I was excited to see that sort of thing was in the rewards catalog,” says Jeremiah, who has been with Averitt for close to 10 years. “The more you look at the catalog, the more you’ll find and the more you’ll be surprised by what all is in there.” Jeremiah’s points have added up through several sources. “The majority of my points come from our quarterly performance goals and how we perform preventive maintenance for the equipment,” he explains. “I’ve gotten a few R-pluses over the course of several years, as well as some referral points. And every five years you get points for years of service, so I’ll be getting more points next year.” Jeremiah is thankful for a program that rewards him for simply doing a

good job. “I think it’s pretty cool that we get what basically amounts to a bonus for maintaining our responsibilities,” he says. “You can get R+ cards for going above and beyond, and you can get rewards for referrals that help people get hired. But the biggest portion of my points comes from taking care of my day- to-day responsibilities.” Want to see the rewards you could be cashing in on?
