30 YEARS AND GOING STRONG

Roanoke Team Celebrates Milestone Consistency. Stability. Family atmosphere. Those themes are among the many reasons our team remains successful. And they’re why our Roanoke service center recently celebrated 30 years of service. Since opening in November 1993, our Roanoke team has grown almost five-fold, now featuring about 45 associates on the LTL side. Three associates have seen that growth firsthand from the beginning – admin associate MELODY SINK, and shuttle drivers TOMMY CARTER and TIM LYLE. “I’m very proud to say that I started out with Averitt Express here in Roanoke and have been part of watching it grow into what it is now and the success we’ve had here,” Melody says. “We have a good team here and throughout the system, and that’s what makes it work. We all work together to make things happen.” “It’s like a family,” Tim adds. “If we have a challenge, we work it out and find out how to fix it. It’s been an amazing experience.” ALL ABOUT OUR PEOPLE Our focus on people and excellence has helped our Roanoke team build a strong reputation. “The number one thing I’ve always heard from customers above everything else – it’s not about the money or the pricing of Averitt – it’s about how the drivers treat the customers and how we handle their freight,” Tommy explains. “The drivers are always neat, the uniforms are clean, we have good equipment, and the on-time service is excellent.” Roanoke Service Center Director JEREMY HALL says his associates are consistent and persistent. “We do what we promise, we’re reliable, and we do the best we can for our customers and don’t let them down,” says Jeremy, who has been with Averitt for 27 years. “In Roanoke, our driving force and dock associates, they’re constantly bringing leads and opportunities to us. They’ll say, ‘Hey, I saw this trailer dropped at this customer. I’ve never seen it before.’ They always have their eyes and ears

open. Our group effort continues to allow us to have success here and for Averitt as a whole.” IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL Our Over 20 Team brings great experience to Averitt, and our Roanoke team’s “Over 20” representation is particularly impressive. More than 25% of associates there have been with Averitt for 20-plus years. “I like to ‘hire to retire,’ Jeremy says. “I’ll tell our associates that when I’m interviewing them. ‘I don’t want to retire you until 25-40 years from now. Tell me if you’re on board or not.’” That eye toward building a strong team for the future is all about our Winner’s Circle. “The ability to take care of customers and associates develops that end result of a bright future,” Jeremy says. “It’s a credit to Mr. Sasser that he’s never at idle. He’s always looking to keep growing and keep developing. That future just gets brighter and brighter for our associates.” Congratulations, Roanoke, on your 30-year milestone! Thank you for being an important part of our success in Virginia, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for you and our entire team!
