A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

Students have started running heats within their form groups to see who will go forward to represent them in the Year 7 Bake Off which is taking place on 4 December. Needless to say it has been a pleasant task helping to judge the entries and I have been impressed by all of the baking skills displayed. In form time this week we have been looking at all the members of the school community that our Year 7 students can speak to if they have a problem or a concern. When such a situation arises, It is usually preferable for a student to have a face-to-face conversation with a staff member such as their form tutor or myself. However, we operate a confidential email address listen@waldegravesch.org where students can seek assistance if they feel more comfortable with this. Today we had a non-uniform day to raise money for Children in Need. The theme was ‘spotty’ and it was nice to see our students embracing this and helping a good cause. We look forward to finding out how much the school has raised for this brilliant cause in next week’s bulletin. There is still time to donate if you wish to support us - click here to donate.

7FFR have led the way this week in the race for house points. At time of writing, they have logged 45 points with 7EST and 7PUN following closely behind having logged scores of 37 and 34 respectively.

Next week we have an INSET day on Monday. Students are not expected to attend school, however those who are involved in the Annie production will need to come in for their dress rehearsal.

Coming soon! The school has teamed up with Lindt to run a chocolate themed competition for Year 7 students. The competition will be launched next week. Watch this space for more information!

The Year 7 Parents Consultation Evening is set to take place after the Christmas break, on 21 February. There will then be a further round of detailed monitoring information from subjects in April.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Impossible Creatures - Katherine Rundell

If you enjoy Katherine Rundell’s The Wolf Wilder , then I highly recommend her newest book. A gripping fantasy novel, Rundell takes readers into the magical Archipelago, where mythical creatures exist but are under threat. Two children discover their hidden talents and their bravery is tested as they quest to save the source of the magic, on which all the creatures depend.
