4.5.3 USING L1 SOFTWARE For more advanced and automated testing, Starrett recommends using our L1 software. L1 software operates on our L1 Tablet. The tablet is a 2-in-1 computer with touchscreen and removable QWERTY keyboard. The L1 tablet communicates with the FMM tester using USB 2.0 communications and the cable supplied with your FMM tester. Using the L1 software, you have total control for setting up a variety of common test methods. You have the ability to setup targets for load, distance and cycling limits. You control the FMM tester’s direction, speed and exceptions where you can have the crosshead stop if an event occurs, i.e., the sample became loose within the test fixture.
4.5.3.1 INSTALLING THE L1 TABLET The L1 tablet attaches to the FMM column. The column is fitted with a ball joint. The L1 tablet attaches to a plate with a ball joint. An adjustable RAM arm attaches to both ball joints. The RAM arm lets you position the L1 tablet for maximum comfort and easy operation. The tablet’s keyboard can be removed so that all operations, including text and numerical entries are performed using the touchscreen and a virtual keypad. The L1 tablet can also be used on the workbench. It does not have to be affixed to the FMM column. NOTE The L1 tablet is connected to the FMM test frame using the USB cable that is supplied with the test frame.

Secure #6 Mounting Base to the pre-drilled holes on the FMM column (right-side).

After inserting #4 screws, secure the #1 Plate to the display module on the L1 tablet using double-back tape or hook and loop tape.
