T he 12 th edition of Bašta Fest, an international festival of short fea- ture films held in the town of Baji- na Bašta, takes place from 3 rd to 6 th July. This year’s slogan, “Start from your own yard!”, suggests to us that we should start any progress from ourselves, from the local, while looking back at what we’ve done and contributed as individuals. Since its inception, Bašta Fest has focused on screening films made by young people, who also comprise the majority of the fes- tival audience. This event is narrowly ori- ented towards the joint work of directors and actors, while its focus on high-qual- ity acting interpretations has greatly in- fluenced the positive positioning of Baš- ta Fest among international festivals of short film.

IZLOŽBA / EXHIBITION S one strane ogledala / On the other side of the mirror
T he solo exhibition On the Other Side of the Mirror by Odile Decq, one of the most prominent French women in the world of contemporary ar- chitecture, is on display at Lower Dorćol’s DOTS Gallery until the end of August. The exhibition provides insight into the crea- tivity of this versatile architect and win- ner of the prestigious Jane Drew Award, whose recognisably fluid creative expres- sion connects architecture, design, art and urban planning. Decq’s creative oeuvre has extended over decades and is marked by her con- sistent exploration of spatial properties through various media and scales – from urban landscapes to everyday objects. Whether creating a museum, a restau- rant interior or furniture, Decq remains consistent in her questioning of outdated norms and identifying of bold solutions that extend the limits of the known, fea- sible and acceptable. The expressive and unconventional personality of this artist, who first excelled on the architecture scene of the 1970s, is recognisable in her work through the use of dynamic forms, bold geometry, vibrant colours and unexpect- ed combinations of materials. Visitors to the Belgrade exhibition will have an opportunity to encounter a va- riety of media presenting works that de- pict her creative universe.
