Senator James Lankford U.S. Senate
Faster response, fewer interruptions
U.S. Senator James Lankford was born on March 4, 1968, in Dallas, Tex- as and graduated from the University of Texas in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with emphasis on history and speech. He continued his higher education and received a master’s degree in divinity in 1994 from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Before his time in Congress, from 1995 to 2009, James served as director of student ministry at the Baptist Convention of Oklahoma and director of the Falls Creek Youth Camp, the largest youth camp in the United States, with more than 51,000 individuals attending each summer.
OG&E is creating a smarter, self-healing grid that can stop outages before they happen. That means more reliable, resilient and efficient power. Any day. Any weather. Any hour.
During his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010 Lankford, an unknown with no pre- vious political experience, had limited campaign funds. He used social media to launch his platform of reduced government spending. In the general election he faced Democrat Billy Coyle. After serving four years in the U.S. House of Representatives, James Lankford was elected to the U.S. Sen- ate on November 4, 2014, to finish the remaining two years of retiring Senator Tom Coburn’s term. Lankford fights unnecessary and burdensome regulations and advocates for a more restrained federal government. Personal faith, local decision-making, and opportunity for every person, regardless of their background, are core values for Senator Lankford. Lankford and his wife, the former Cindy A. Hennessey, were married on May 9, 1992, in Tarrant County, Texas. They have two daughters.
