THE GREYTON POST
27
Blisters, Bridgerton & the Beat of Village Life
Dearest Readers, As I pen these words from my favourite perch overlooking our lively little village, it is my pleasure to share the latest murmurs and musings from the leafy corners of Greyton. With great anticipation, the upcoming wine tasting event is already stirring excitement throughout the village. If last year is any indication, we can expect a delightful assortment of wineglasses to make their appearance, particularly as evening falls and the jolly locals join the fun. A gentle reminder, dear friends – if you happen upon lost property, kindly hand it in to a local restaurant or shop, or pop a note on one of the many WhatsApp groups or Facebook pages. Greyton thrives on its neighbourly
spirit, and social media works wonders to reunite owners with their belongings. If it’s a phone, don’t delay – nothing is more mortifying than an owner using ‘find my phone’ to locate it on your sofa after you kindly picked it up and kept it safe! A quick post or word ensures your good intentions are clear and will be much appreciated by locals and visitors alike. Fitness seems to be the latest village obsession, as several intrepid teams of Greyton hikers have ventured further afield to explore our magnificent country. I hear that a group of eleven brave souls recently descended upon Pondoland, leaving a noticeable hush over the village in their absence. A calm serenity settled upon the streets, only to be joyfully disrupted upon their
return, bringing with them their unique fizz and energy. Rumour has it that only one blister emerged from this adventurous troupe – and it was on a gentleman’s foot! Proof, perhaps, that our local hills and valleys provide excellent training ground for even the most ambitious hikes. Word on the street suggests we should mark our diaries for an event sure to dazzle. A Bridgerton High Tea is being planned for the ladies of the valley in celebration of Women’s Day this August. Expect an intriguing talk involving nipple caps and g-strings (my mind boggles), wine flowing freely, and cake served in abundance. There will be competitions for the best-dressed woman and most fabulous table display – a sparkling celebration
of women with a twinkle in their eye. One to watch, dear readers! And so, as we return to our glorious valley – where horses roam freely, pigs snuffle in contentment, and music beats into the night just long enough to inspire a flurry of social media indignation – let’s remember that these charming quirks make Greyton the lively and loving community we cherish. Until next time, dear friends, keep your eyes open, your wineglasses polished, and your humour intact.
Yours, Lady Grey xoxo
