Family Partnership of Frederick County understands this. As said in its mission statement, the organization leverages community support and “empowers individuals and families of diverse backgrounds to be stable and self-reliant by building on their strengths and skills.” As a family support center, Family Partnership of Frederick County offers intergenerational programming in a single location at St. John Properties’ Riverside Technology Park in Frederick, Maryland. The Partnership offers educational services (ranging from virtual schooling to language courses), employment services, nurturing parenting programs, leadership and parent advisory meetings, health education and responsible fathers and empowering mothers programs. When searching for a location, the flexibility of St. John Properties’ management and building is what convinced the Partnership to choose this space. “St. John worked closely with us to design the space we needed to provide our services,” Cindy Kokoski, office manager of Family

Partnership, said. “We are unique because we needed staff offices as well as program space to serve our participants and their young children. We also needed an outdoor playground that was safe and secure. It was important for us to have parking for our vans in the back of the building and ample parking for staff and participants in the front of the building. St. John Properties was very patient and worked closely with us every step of the way.” Family Partnership is conveniently located and offers van transportation for participants located within 10 miles of the center. Inside the facility, “the layout of our space is designed with child development classrooms, as well as classrooms and a computer lab to assist our parents and youth with their individual program goals,” Kokoski said. Family Partnership enjoys the wide variety of ways the space can be used for different projects and tasks. “We also have ample office space for our administrators, case managers and child development

staff and a conference room for small group and individual meetings,” Kokoski said. “There is also space provided for storage of education, child development and administrative supplies. Additionally, we have a playground area with proper fencing directly behind our building to provide a safe outdoor area for our children when weather permits.” The space also includes a kitchen and dining area where participants enjoy meals during their program day. “This dining room space also provides a place for us to host speakers and meetings to inform and assist our participants and staff,” Kokoski said. “We have a lounge area for our youth to relax between program sessions and a group room that allows for a relaxed area for small group meeting sessions.” With a superb location from St. John Properties, Family Partnership of Frederick County can offer entire families the resources and instruction they need to reach their full potential.
