The Residences at Dockside Gacek Design Group brings a modern, luxurious update to Social Lounge
S
ituated in the most vi- brant section of Philly, The Residences at Dock- side is easily recognized on the Delaware River due to its unique boat-shaped silhou- ette. We were not only easily influenced by the surround - ing water views, we were also inspired by a nautical theme for the renovation of the Social Lounge. Playing off the 4,100 s/f outdoor terrace that envelopes the Lounge, our objective was to create an open air feel similar to a yacht interior with sophistication and understated luxury. With the historical influ- ences that Philly offers, we referenced historic colors, materials, and industrial de- tails into the design. A Clas- sic design style was created to include comfortable, clean lines with accents of blue tones, mahogany terracotta, gray, light woods and polished finishes. Portal shaped light - ing, leather, linen and canvas fabrics were used to compli- ment the abstract stainless art and sailing photography. Why was this particular job your favorite/most un- usual? This section of Philadel- phia is very competitive from a living perspective with brand new residences under construction. It was impor- tant to use research on living preferences to understand how people want to spend their time. We were able to strategize to strengthen the brand identity to provide a differentiated experience. Founded in 2005, Gacek De- sign Group is owned and oper- ated by Richard Gacek, a 32 year veteran of interior design and architectural consulting. As Principal Designer, Rich- ard is well known for blending natural elements with time- less and classic design. Inspired by historical archi- tecture and influences, Gacek Design Group is mindful of the value of an experience. Every design is carefully researched to create a story that is authentic. This prac- tice always delivers exclusive and elegant interiors that are meaningful and based on lifestyle.
