NQ Healthcare provides you with the underpinning knowledge to understand the standards and approaches that support care practice. You will also be introduced to basic caring skills in the clinical skills lab and have guest speakers from both health and social services. These elements will enable you to move on to further studies as well as giving you a qualification suitable for support jobs within the health and social services sector.

NQ Healthcare will provide you with not only the theoretical knowledge and understanding of care practice but will also teach you a range of practical caring skills which you will be expected to demonstrate with service users during a placement within the care sector. This placement introduces you to nursing and care professions with the practice placement lasting from November to March.

Access to Nursing (SWAP)
6 SCQF LEVEL
Access to Nursing is run in partnership with the Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) and is designed for adults who are thinking of returning to education, after a break of at least three to five years. It will introduce you to a range of science and healthcare subjects to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required for progression to a university degree programme or HNC course at SCQF Level 7 in nursing or a health related field. The course is accepted by partner universities in lieu of other entry qualifications. It also includes intensive guidance to develop confidence, core skills and maximise the chance of successful progression to higher education. SWAP negotiate places at a range of universities for students successfully completing their SWAP course.
