HNC Applied Science is a challenging, and interesting one year programme that builds on your learning at Higher Level Biology and Chemistry. Through the varied units of this course, you will develop the essential practical laboratory skills and theoretical knowledge required for degree level study in life sciences at university and employment in the life science sector. This course has been designed to allow for progression into a wide range of life science degrees including, but not limited to: pharmacology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, anatomy, forensics, food science or pharmacy. High performing students can articulate directly to year 2 of many degree programmes, or to year 2 of our HND Industrial Biotechnology or HND Applied Biological Science (Biomedical Route) courses.

HNC Applied Sciences (Enhanced course in partnership with the University of Glasgow) provides you with the opportunity to build on your learning at Higher Level Biology and Chemistry. This course will allow you to develop the essential practical laboratory skills and theoretical knowledge required to progress to study at university or to work within the life science and chemical sectors. This course is enhanced with additional studies carried out at the University of Glasgow to allow you to articulate to the second year of life sciences degree programmes upon successful completion. Please note, you will be required to undertake classes both within the College (throughout the academic year) and at the University of Glasgow (from January to June). This is a widening participation course and you will need to meet certain eligibility requirements. Further details can be found on the College website.
