This music course aims to bridge the gap between secondary school music qualifications (such as Advanced Higher Music) and HND/Degree courses. Its breadth and depth afford you the opportunity to establish a strong foundation to progress in advanced musical training, nurturing a range of essential musical skills significantly beyond those generally acquired in school programmes. At the end of the year most successful students are automatically offered places on the College’s two year HND Music programme. Every year NQ students are given opportunities to perform for a wider audience within the College’s performing arts facilities.

This two-year live performance-based course is an effective stepping stone to advanced entry to music degree programmes and provides a broad range of vocational training if you are looking to pursue a career in the music industry. Many former students have been offered advanced entry for university music courses in Scotland after completing the course. Others have continued their training in London. Several former students are now music teachers, session musicians, media composers and community artists.
NQ Stringed Musical Instrument Making

This unique course is the only one of its type available in Scotland. The programme will equip you with a wide range of specialist skills in the field of stringed instrument construction and repair. The course is delivered by a team of practicing makers and repairers in a well-equipped workshop.
