A city with clean water Drakenstein Municipality has a proud track record of consistently delivering clean potable water , adhering to the South African National Standard (SANS) 24. The Municipality recently became one of only 22 wastewater systems out of 850 in South Africa to be awarded Green Drop status . The Green Drop certification is an incentive-based regulation programme of the national Department of Water and Sanitation. Municipalities receive Green Drop status when they achieve scores of 90% or higher, against stringent assessment requirements. Our Hermon Wastewater Treatment System scored an impressive 93%. reliable bulk electricity services to our business and industrial sectors. To alleviate the sting of Eskom loadshedding and supplement Eskom’s power in a sustainable and affordable way, the Municipality is investigating ways of generating or purchasing alternative energy . In the meanwhile, we roll out programmes such as installing Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) equipment at our traffic signal installations.
