HOW DOES EPILFREE WORK? Epilfree works in the hair follicle that is in the Anagen Phase, when the hair is actively growing (see diagram on next page) and still attached to the Dermal Papilla. Epifree does not work when the hair is in the Catagen, Telogen or Early Anagen Phases. The hair has detached from the Dermal Papilla during the Catagen and Telogen Phase, which are also referred to as the ‘Resting Phase’ in the hair growth cycle. In the Anagen Phase we have a live hair follicle. It’s got oxygen, it’s got blood and it’s alive. This live cell is the only one that Epilfree can kill. Once that hair is removed and Epilfree treatment is done following the protocols, that hair will never grow another hair. Every human being has 5 million hair follicles on their body. It doesn’t matter what your race or your size is, we all have 5 million hair follicles. Most of these hair follicles are in the Catagen and/or Telogen Phase, which means they are resting most of the time. If they were growing, we would all look like our dog or cat. There are areas of the body with terminal hair, like a mans’ beards, underarms and intimate areas, that have more hair growing most of the time, but still most are in the ‘Resting Phase’. The amount of hair that’s on the human body is huge. So we are waiting on the cycles of hair to reduce as much as humanly possible based on the way one’s hair goes through the stages. No two people have the same hair cycles and no two areas on the body have the same hair cycle. During the first Epilfree treatment, the Epilfree formulation, which is made up of natural herbs as well as other natural ingredients will stop the duplication of cells 100% at the base of the live Anagen hair follicle. When a client comes in for their next treatment, the hair that you see is hair that hasn’t been treated yet. That’s your opportunity to get rid of another batch of unwanted hair. The least amount of treatments will be needed when the client comes in every 4-6 weeks, that is when the most Anagen hair growth is present. When treated every 4-6 weeks, your client can expect to be finished after 12 treatments but some people do need more... If the client prefers to have treatments every 2-3 weeks (which a lot of people opt to do), just let them know it will take more treatments. Once the hair has been removed from the root, the Activator Part A needs to be applied within 60 seconds. The Activator opens up the hair follicle 4 times it’s original size and begins to stop the duplication of cells to prepare it for the deep penetration of the Toner Part B. This process takes 5 minutes (minimum) for the Activator Part A to open up the follicle. If you are working on a large area, the Activator Part A will hold the follicle open for 25 minutes, which gives you time to complete the area before applying the Toner Part B. Make sure you give the last section 5 minutes to process before applying Toner Part B. The treated area must be left alone for six hours after the treatment. At which time the treated hair follicles will never work again.

EDUCATING YOUR CLIENTS’ In a perfect world, we would start the treatment and the next time they come in there would be less hair, then the next time less and the next time less and so on… until all the hair is gone. And we have seen that happen many times. We have also seen some clients come with a large amount of hair that may show reduction over the first 3 treatments and then large amounts of untreated hair will cycle in for the next few, looking like nothing is happening, but it is. Make sure you take a picture before starting an Epilfree Treatment for the first time and then take a picture each time they come in for their treatments. Make an album for each client in your phone, so that you have a history of exactly what transpired during their treatments. Sometimes you will find that the hair is ¾ gone and then the next time they come, it looks like it did when they started. And the next 3 times looks like nothing is changing. The point is WE DON‘T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT . If you have an expectation about the number of treatments needed, you have already made your first mistake. The most important thing that you need to realize is, that patience is the factor here. You must set a mindset of your own, to patiently wait for the hair to come out of the Telogen Phase for you to treat it. We recommend doing treatments between 4 and 6 weeks, because that is when you are going to have the most Anagen hair. If you can treat between 4 and 6 weeks anywhere on the body, the average amount of treatments is 10-12 and what you should say to your clients’ is to just count on 12 treatments OR MORE . “Count on seeing me for over a year” and tell them how you are going to get to know each other in that year and that you might even become best friends so it's not so bad. So you are making a commitment to them and they are making a commitment to you. None of us have control over how much hair is going to rotate in during that Anagen Phase. It is important that you understand this concept. The only thing we have control of is doing a really good treatment. We have no control over this, we DO have control over giving our clients a great treatment following all of the protocols. Any hair that you treat that is in the Anagen Phase is NEVER going to grow back again, if you and your client follow all the protocols. The only hair you are going to see from treatment to treatment is untreated hair. In you position as a professional, I can‘t stress enough how important it is to have the right mindset and convey that vibe to your client. This is the key to a successful Permanent Hair Removal business, understanding how it works and making sure your clients understand it, because an educated client is your best marketing tool. There isn’t anything better. If your client understands this, they are going to tell every single person they know about it. It is new, fresh information that is interesting. They will be the best marketing tool you could ever have!!
MANAGING THE CLIENTS EXPECTATIONS We live in a time of instant results and cosmetic expectation is very high. It is important that the client understands that everybody is different, and the outcome of the results will not be the same as the next. Everybody responds differently and at different times to the Epilfree treatment, just like laser. It is better to undersell than oversell the expectations. Count on 12 treatments or more. (Hormonal hair is explained in the PCOS section.) MANAGING EXPECTATIONS: > Use the Client Consultation Form as reference. > Be thorough and extract all the necessary information from the client to understand their Epilfree journey. > Before waxing, take a high quality photo of the treatment area, and do this with every visit.
EPILFREE IMPORTANT INGREDIENT INFORMATION Our USA Distributor - Rene’ has been using & selling Epilfree since 2006 (15 years) and has only had 2 clients bring this to her attention: In our Activator we have an ingredient called Sodium Hydroxide, it is not a chemical, it is a natural element. It is 2 elements combined, which is salt & water. It is also used in many Caustic products, so it does draw the attention of some clients‘. Sodium Hydroxide goes into our formulation and raises the Activator between 8-9, which is where we need it in order to open up the follicle by 4 times it’s natural size. When the laboratory is mixing the formulation, it goes in as Sodium Hydroxide which are molecules that are attached to each other consisting of salt & water. Those molecules get added to the formulation, which then raises the pH and once mixed they break apart becoming their natural parts, which is salt & water. In the end product that you receive, this is non- existent. If the product were to be tested for Sodium Hydroxide, there would be none. Everything we do with Epilfree is 100% transparent and we try to make sure that everyone knows everything about Epilfree, and that is why we have introduced these certifications, in order for all our Professionals to be ready with ALL the information required. USING EPILFREE ON SENSITIVE SKIN: Epilfree is a natural product that will soothe and heal the skin. We have had very few reactions or breakouts when using Epilfree over many years it’s been on the market. If the client is concerned and has sensitive skin, do a patch test on the inside of the elbow or behind the ear to make sure they aren’t sensitive to the formulations. A tingling sensation is common after applying the product. Epilfree is NOT to be used on open or broken skin, this is stipulated on the product bottles and packaging.
TREATMENT PROTOCOL
Complete the Consultation Form with the client before the treatment and explain the Aftercare protocols. Do not put anything on to pre-treat the skin. (No pre-treatments) Ask your customer to cleanse the area an hour before the treatment with soap & water and not to use any deodorant, lotion, oil, powder, makeup, nothing on the skin before their treatment. Take a high quality photo of the treatment area before every treatment. Put 3 sets of gloves on for smaller areas and 5 sets of gloves for larger areas. Apply the wax on the direction of the hair growth. Start on a small area to begin with, until you have mastered the treatment protocol. Start your timer, remove the wax in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Apply the Epilfree Activator Part A within 40-60 seconds, making sure the Activator is not being applied to an area that has not been waxed, as the wax will not stick to this area. Rub the Activator Part A in the opposite direction of the hair growth and set your timer for 5 minutes, to allow it to open up the hair follicles. Remove the top set of gloves. Apply the Epilfree Toner Part B after 5 minutes & within a 25 minute time frame. It is advised to work in sections if you are doing larger areas and best advised to use a magnifying lamp to see the process of the hair follicles enlarging. No waxing to be done on an area that has been activated, but can clean last stray hairs with a tweezer. Once the full treatment has been completed, make sure your client understands the Epilfree Aftercare protocol. The treated area must be left alone for 6 hours. No makeup, lotion, deodorant, oil, powder, or anything else can be applied to the skin for 6 hours. No showering, working out... nothing for 6 hours. Don’t even try to make the area less stick Just leave it alone and let the treatment work. Book the client’s next treatment. Intervals between treatments, for maximum reduction it’s best to treat every 4 to 6 weeks. Keeping your client comfortable through the process is just as important as to most, so doing the treatment sooner may be a client request, but the result will take more treatments.

HORMONES & HAIR GROWTH HAIR GROWTH: Hair growth and hormones walk a journey together, hand-in-hand, so any effect of the hormones will directly affect the hair growth cycle. There are a number of hormonal conditions that will affect the hair growth cycle. HORMONAL CONDITIONS: PCOS: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: This is a common condition that plagues a number of women. It is an imbalance of the sex hormones that can result in irregular periods, obesity, infertility and sometimes multiple cysts on the ovaries. HRT: Hormone Replacement Therapy: This can cause chin hair to continue growing over years. It is best addressed with periodic in spa treatments after the initial Epilfree “in spa” treatment period, which can be more than 20 treatments. Ongoing tweezing with use of the Home Care Kit may be necessary. Hirsutism: This is a symptom of high androgen or testosterone levels in women, which is a condition of unwanted male-pattern hair growth in the womens’ face & neck and on the chest & back. This is a medical condition that can arise from excess male hormones. IVF: In Vitro Fertilisation Treatment: This is a treatment whereby a human egg is fertilised by sperm outside of the female body and then inserted into the woman’s womb with the intention of starting a successful pregnancy. Hormones are being deliberately injected into the woman’s system on a daily basis, which can cause changes in the hair growth cycle. Endometriosis: This is a biological disorder that mostly affects women between the ages of 25 and 35. Generally this is a hereditary condition that affects androgen activity. As mentioned in the consultation side, any hormonal issue a client is suffering from, may affect their Epilfree results. It is not to say that they can’t use Epilfree, it just means that you need to manage their expectations correctly. This patient may need a lot more than 12 or even 20 treatments. The hormonal hair will become manageable.
PCOS PROTOCOL This protocol is specifically for women who’ve been shaving in order to help them stop so we can begin using Epilfree to permanently get rid of their facial hair. For these clients we can‘t tell them to count on 12 treatments. We have to say we don’t know how many treatments or how long we will be working together, but there will come a day when this condition will be manageable or completely over. The most important thing in the beginning is to keep our client comfortable and actually able to proceed with the process. We don‘t ask them to stop shaving and wait 4 weeks for a treatment! What we do is, after they’ve had their consultation, and they‘re ready to start:
After the client has had his/her consultation, have her go as long as she can without waxing. When she can’t make it another minute, do her 1st treatment.

Again, have her go as long as she can and do her 2nd treatment.

You will continue in this way with the idea of gaining more time between treatments. The goal is to eventually get 2 or 3 weeks in between visits. That’s where the Epilfree Home Care Kit comes in. The Epilfree Home Care is a take home Spot Facial Treatment for these clients to use to help them gain more time between treatments.

HOME CARE PROTOCOL
Make sure your hands are clean before starting.

There is no need to use a glove for this application. Keep cotton swabs in your bag with the Home Care serum and a tweezer. The serum will stain your fingers yellow. 2 Simple Steps... Tweeze the hair and ensure it pulls out with the root. Take a small drop of the Epilfree Home Care serum and apply it immediately onto the follicle where the hair was pulled out, wait 3 minutes and apply again.

TREATMENT USAGE FACIAL CARE KIT: 1 Full pump will cover an area as big as your palm. If you are doing a Lip Treatment, you will only need 1 drop. Dispense a drop by pushing the plunger slightly. INTIMCARE KIT: 1 Full pump will cover an area as big as your entire hand. Use your discretion and only apply the product to cover the surface area that you are treating. BODY CARE KIT: 1 Full pump will cover an area as big as two hands together. Check the surface area or the size of the client to determine the amount of product to use. A skinny client will use less product compared to a larger client. The Epilfree Treatment Usage Chart (on next page) can be used as a easy reference in the treatment room. The chart will give you an indication for the product usage per area but use your discretion of the surface area you treat and the size of the client. This product is like “Liquid Gold” and it cannot be wasted with over use or under use as this will affect the Salon or Spa costings as well as the treatment results for under usage.
Refer to A for Activator Usage & T for Toner Usage If more activator is used, this will effect costings therefore we advise sticking to the usage advised. Extra product training is available if therapists need more assistance with product usage and timing. Product Overusage: The follicle can only absorb a certain amount of serum, thereafter it leaves an external layer on the skin. If this happens, the excess product can be washed off after the 6 hours. To prevent this, do not overuse and follow the below Treatment Usage Chart guidelines.

AFTERCARE PROTOCOL
To achieve optimal results with the Epilfree treatments, explain to the client the importance of following these instructions:
FOR 6 HOURS AFTER THE TREATMENT: > No bathing, showering or swimming > No oils, powders or lotions > No deodrant or perfume > No makeup > No strenuous exercise > Avoid sweating > Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours > No waxing, tweezing, threading or shaving
AFTERCARE BEFORE NEXT TREATMENT: > The hair length must be between 2.5 to 5.0mm for the next treatment. > A consistent treatment programme will improve the outcome. > Advise the client to buy the most treatments/packages as possible. > It is recommended to shower an hour before any Epilfree treatment.
We suggest wearing dark clothing as our Toner Serum contains an ingredient called Cucurmin which has a yellow tint to it and it can rub off on the clothing but does not stain, it washes off easily. Note: Make sure that your give the client an Aftercare Card after their first Epilfree treatment.
ACCEPTABLE WAXES TO USE WITH EPILFREE There are more out there than this, just look on the label and make sure there is no Rosin, Rosinate or Resin. There are some synthetic resins that are OK to use, but you will have to check with the manufacturer and make sure the base of the synthetic resin is not rosin. Some synthetic resins have a plastic base which is fine to use.
