Dream Home Digest Wired for Construction, Built for Connection MEET THE ASSOCIATE BUILDER WHO HELPS BRING HOMES TO LIFE

Stonewood WATKINSVILLE, GA Summerville ATHENS, GA Yellowstone Farm CUMMING, GA

There is something special about building a home for someone. This may be where they raise a family, host parties with friends, rest after a long workday, and make lifelong memories. Our homes are one of the most important things in our lives, as they provide security, comfort, and more. It’s always a rewarding experience bringing someone’s vision to life and creating their dream home. My name is Brendan Swafford, and I’m an associate builder with SR Homes.

One of the things you’ll notice as soon as you step into one of our homes is the attention to detail. You’ll want to stop and appreciate every inch of your new home. We try to go above and beyond to make your homebuying experience as personal and enjoyable as possible. I pride myself on establishing a relationship with our buyers and developing trust. I spend ample time in these homes, fine-tooth combing every detail to ensure everything is as perfect as possible. Purchasing a home is a big decision, and I want to ensure you know you’re making the right one, so I try to be transparent. I’ll be honest and open while explaining everything going on with the building of your home. I love it when people come with questions because it allows me to get things to their liking. While it might sound cliché, you can think of me as a friend throughout the process. I try to ensure the utmost quality while adapting to your needs, answering any questions and providing insight when necessary. While I love my job, I also like to get away from the day-to-day business whenever I get some time off. I love spending time outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, running, biking, or playing pickleball. I can’t spend hours sitting around watching TV; I like to be on the go, seeing new things and meeting new people.

COMING SOON! Sterlington CANTON, GA

I’ve only been a part of the SR Homes’ team for a little under a year now, but the experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve met have made it one of the best places to work. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else! Before joining the team, I worked as a subcontractor for Georgia Power, doing construction that looked very different from homebuilding. While I was great in the role, I didn’t feel fulfilled with what I was doing. There was no instant gratification when I finished a project; every day felt repetitive. Nothing new ever happened! I realized I needed a change and reached out to a few friends in the industry. I really liked the idea of working in residential construction, and a friend who worked at SR Homes connected me with

the team. I felt like this was a place I fit in, and I wasn’t wrong. Since that day, I haven’t looked back at my decision; I’m enjoying every day in my role at SR Homes. I love problem-solving and overcoming challenges, and this job provides plenty of it. It helps keep me on my toes and ensures I remain sharp. While I greatly enjoy building homes, I also enjoy meeting new people and helping them get into their dream home.

MAINTENANCE TASKS THAT PAY FOR THEMSELVES HOME SWEET WELL-MAINTAINED HOME

Home is where the heart is, but if you ignore maintenance, it can also be where your wallet suffers. Keeping up with minor repairs and seasonal upkeep can save you big bucks. From fixing a leaky faucet to sealing pesky drafts, essential home maintenance projects like these practically pay for themselves. CUT TREE BRANCHES. Having trees in your yard heightens curb appeal and provides natural shade. But when limbs are damaged or diseased, a storm could knock them into your roof, windows, or walls, leading to costly repairs. Keeping your trees trimmed and pruned regularly can save thousands of dollars in potential repairs. Hiring a professional could cost up to $2,000, but it beats replacing a roof, which averages about $9,500. KEEP YOUR GUTTERS CLEAR. Cleaning your gutters is a basic chore that can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars. When debris blocks your gutters, water cannot drain off your roof, leading to leaks, water damage, mold, and even foundation problems. You should clean your gutters at least twice a year. TUNE UP YOUR HVAC SYSTEM. The last thing you want to face during a heat wave or chilly winter is for your HVAC system to fail you, and the dollars could stack up if it breaks down. Annual or twice-a-year HVAC tune-ups keep your system running smoothly and reduce

your monthly energy bills. Clogged machines cause damage like leaks or ceiling damage and work less effectively, increasing your bills over time.

PROTECT YOUR DRIVEWAY. Your driveway takes a daily beating from cars, weather, and time, so protecting the pavement from damage is essential. Applying a coat of sealer every 3–5 years can prevent cracks and pores from forming in the asphalt, which could ultimately lead to potholes. If your blacktop is starting to fade, it’s time to give it a little TLC. A little home maintenance now can prevent future financial headaches. Investing time and effort into these chores will protect your property and keep your dollars where they belong.

Green With Envy

Landscaping Tips That’ll Make Your Neighbors Jealous

When people visit your home or just drive by, they often notice your lawn and landscaping efforts before anything else. Have you ever seen a front yard so lush and green that it made you stop in your tracks and wonder, “Why can’t my yard look

like that?” Proper landscaping requires intention, action, and attention to detail. You need a few trips to your local home improvement or gardening store to pick up tools and gardening supplies, but it will all be worth it to make your home the talk of the neighborhood.

pests, before planting grass seed or making other efforts to make your lawn greener.

MULCH You can always tell warm weather is on the horizon when local stores and shopping centers replace the mulch around their foliage. You should follow their example. Mulch gets worn out over time, becoming less effective and worse-looking. Try to replace your mulch once a year, ensuring all trees, garden beds, and shrubs have a fresh layer about 2–3 inches deep. PRUNE AND TRIM Your trees, bushes, and shrubs need some love, too. Over time, they can become unruly, negatively impacting the visual appearance of your home. Cut back on any long branches or overgrown shrubs. Not only will this make your yard look better, but it will also benefit the health of your trees and bushes, as you’ll stimulate stronger growth while removing any unhealthy parts of the plant.

Here are three easy ways to bolster your landscaping efforts.

GREENER, HEALTHIER GRASS A beautiful green lawn will make your house stand out from the pack, but it’s not easy to achieve if you’re constantly battling weeds, forgetting to water regularly, and running into other obstacles like pests and sunspots. The best strategy is to tackle one element at a time, ensuring you’ve rectified each issue before proceeding to the next. This will not be a quick process, especially if you try to do it alone. Bringing a lawn back to good health can take months or years. Start with the most egregious problems first, like weeds and

Get Your Home Ready for Summer, One Step at a Time

The weather will continue to warm over the next few weeks until we summer officially begins. Whenever the seasons change, we should tackle basic maintenance in and outside the house to ensure everything continues to work properly and our homes look as beautiful as possible. Start by walking around the exterior of your property to look for signs of damage or wear and tear. Look at the ground and work your way up. Check your patio, sidewalk, walkway, and driveway for cracks and weeds. If you notice weeds, remove them before filling in the cracks they grow out of. Then, give the area a good power wash, spraying away the dirt and grime accumulated over the last year or longer. From there, you’ll want to look at the actual house itself. How do your gutters and downspouts look? If they’re dirty and full of debris, throw on a pair of gloves and get to cleaning! This is not a fun task, but it goes a long way toward protecting your

home from water damage, pest infestations, and more. While you’re up there, inspect your roof for any damage. If you haven’t experienced a bad storm recently, it should look okay, but it’s definitely worth checking out. Before heading inside, consider cleaning your outdoor furniture, air conditioning unit, windows, and screens. For your air conditioning unit, simply spray it down with a hose and remove any weeds that may try to grow in it. Also, consider calling an air conditioner maintenance company to take a look at your unit to ensure it runs as efficiently as possible as the temperature heats up. Once you head inside, you won’t have too many summer-specific tasks to complete, but you should tackle a few with every seasonal change. Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, wipe down your baseboards, and reverse your ceiling fans so they’re spinning counter-clockwise. Just like that, your home is now ready for summer!
