Bad weekend for the Cougars

The last weekend was not kind for the Vankleek Cougars in their National Capital Junior Hockey League schedule. The Embrun Panthers clipped the Cou- gars by one point in a 4-3 over-time win for the visiting team, Saturday night, over the Jan 21 weekend. The key to the win for Embrunmay have been an unanswered goal the Panthers scored in the first period, which forced the Cougars to play catch up in third period, to tie up the score and shift the game into over-time play with Embrun managing the winning point. Scoring single points for the Cougars were Nicolas Castonguay, Marc-Antoine Doyon, and Samuel Fournier. Goal assists came from Hugo Blanchard, Tyler Dopelhamer, Charles Doyon, Marc-Antoine Doyon, and Trystan Lavoie. Anthony Vassall guarded the Cougars’ net. Punching in goals for Embrun were Na- than Bols, Daniel Cogan, Tyler Jodoin, and Josh Renaud. Assisting on the goals were Renaud, Cody Lavictoire, Mikael Gibeault, andMichael Cogan. Reilly Tondreau blocked the Panthers’ net. On the road Sunday to Gatineau, the Cougars lost 4-2 to the Hull-Volant. Scor- ing for Vankleek Hill were Charles Doyon and Riley Sauvé with Sauvé also assisting on Doyon’s goals. Tyler Druce also assisted on the goal-scoring. BrennanNadeau guarded the Cougars’ net.

in the Hull-Volant’s net. The Cougars’ schedule had them in Rock- landWednesday night, against the Nationals.
Vankleek Hill hosts the Morrisburg Lions this Saturday with the Cougars in St-Isidore against the Eagles the following Sunday.
