For many of us, autumn is one of the most beautiful times of the year. There’s nothing like the cool refreshing air and breathtaking fall foliage. However, with the changing of the seasons comes a chore that we all dread– raking leaves. Thankfully, there are a few easy ways to make raking the leaves more enjoyable. If you need help with your follow through on this chore, keep reading! 1. If you can, rake downhill Raking leaves is hard enough without having to go against gravity. Make this process a little easier on yourself by raking downhill. 2. Pull the leaves towards you as you rake This technique helps keep stress off your back and prevents injury. For extra preventative measures, tighten your abdominal muscles as you move. 3. Divide your lawn into sections
1. Make a Plan and Stick to It. Don’t jump into a hike without having a plan. Map out your trip ahead of time. Tell others where you’re going and don’t deviate from your route. Sign in at all registration points. 2. Don’t Push Yourself Past Your Limits. Challenging yourself is great, but when it comes to hiking, slow and steady wins the race. The outdoors (especially when alone) is not the place to test your athleticism. Train ahead of time if you are attempting a challenging trail and make sure to hydrate before, during and after your trip. will improve your endurance. 3. Use Your Whole Body.
Many times we give our feet all the credit for carrying us up a steep mountain or through a challenging trail, but we have our whole body to thank! Take pit stops and keep your camera handy to capture the beauty around you while you rest.
