If we do need to go on-site, we normally try to go after hours and/or construct a cover story so as not to arouse suspicion. Often Buyers and Sellers will meet in person at the M&A Advisors office or a local hotel/restaurant or even at the Seller’s house to avoid detection. Confidentiality is critical in a business sale and is something that the Seller deserves as their ongoing business should not be impacted by the business sale process. With the proper training, policies, procedures and culture, 99% of the time any issues with confidentiality can be avoided.
