Chapter 4 - Finding Business Sellers

Where and how do you find businesses for sale? This question understandably gets asked a lot and is fundamental to the process of buying a company. Buyer search can be one of the most time- consuming (and frustrating) aspects of the business buying process. We have had private equity companies tell us that they look at 100 companies for every one that they buy for example. The key is to focus, a good process, and persistence. Transworld M&A are not Buyer side search agents so we do not get involved in doing specific searches for a Buyer beyond the listings we currently have which we are of course more than happy to discuss. There are specialist Buyer side search agents that focus on specific Seller search projects for Buyers and you can hire them for what is usually a monthly retainer and success fee. If the Seller is not one of our listings, Transworld M&A get involved once a business Seller has been identified and qualified by the Buyer. We will be happy to reach out to the Seller and start the process of introductions and putting a potential offer together or join the process at any stage.
