Four new recruits for the Hawks

C’est par une belle journée ensoleillée qu’avait lieu le tournoi de golf de l’équipe de hockey junior A de Hawkesbury, samedi dernier. Près de 135 participants ont répondu présents au Golf de la Cité de Hawkesbury. L’invité spécial du tournoi n’était autre que Rémi Elie, un joueur de hockey de la Ligue nationale des Stars de Dallas. Les quatre nouveaux joueurs des Hawks était présent lors du tournoi de golf, soit Joel Frazee, Tanner Tarbell, Matthew Gasuik et Nicolas Guillemette. Le départ du tournoi était fixé à 13h et s’est terminé en fin de journée. Un souper a été servi à l’aréna de Hawkesbury afin de clore cette belle journée. Les Cougars de Vankleek Hill voudraient remercier tous les participants ainsi que les commanditaires pour leurs contributions à une importante collecte de fonds.

GMDorval thinks Gasiuk can be a domi- nant force in tight offensive for Hawkesbury. He said, “Matt is a skilled forward that has the ability to find his teammates all over the ice. He also has that scoring touch around the net.” Matt was recently recognized with the Nichols school “Alumni Cup” which is given to the best male athlete of the graduating class. Finally, GM Dorval showed a little bit of love to his goaltenders by signing Nicolas Guillemette from the Saint-Eustache Vikings of the Quebec Midget AAA League. Dorval, who is looking to improve Hawkesbury’s transition game, added, “Nicolas is a smooth skating defensemen with excellent puck handling skills. A local player with his talent and ability, that lives 40 minutes from Hawkesbury was a must have.”Nicolas’ goal is to eventually play NCAA.

The Hawkesbury Hawks held their annual camp in Rockland, May 27 and 28, where they evaluated over 140 prospects, in search of future Hawks.The crop of players was plentiful, and bore fruit for the Hawks organization, with four players signing with the club for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Joel Frazee, from the Belle Tire U18 team inMichigan, will bring his breakneck speed and lightning quick hands to the Hawks’ top 12. “Joel has tremendous speed and agility, with hands that can keep up to his speed. I have seen Joel score some nifty goals and if the defenders don’t stay humble to his speed, they will be reading the name on the back of his jersey often,” saidHawkesbury Coach and GM Rick Dorval. Mammoth power forward Tanner Tarbell, from Stanstead Prep School, was another of GM Rick Dorval’s signings. Dorval says, “Tanner is a power forward with speed and a lethal shot. At 6’ 4”, 200 lbs, he is physically imposing on opponents. He has already gai- ned NCAAD1 interest from several schools and we are proud he chose Hawkesbury to
