Adviser Autumn 2017

T he annual East Anglian Daily Times annual Business Awards are designed to recognise the ‘best of the best’ from within the local business community. This year Scrutton Bland once again sponsored the category for Large Business. For this award the judges were looking for an established firm with an annual turnover exceeding £5 million who could show that they were operating a robust business model. Entrants were expected to be able to demonstrate strong sales and profitability, and provide evidence that they maintain best practice in recruitment and training, including areas such as leadership, people management, customer awareness and corporate social responsibility. Sharon Gravener , Corporate Partner at Scrutton Bland sat on the judging panel who rigorously judged all of the entrants against the strict criteria, and after much deliberation awarded the prize for the Large Business category to Ipswich-based Sanctuary Personnel at the awards ceremony at Trinity Park Ipswich. According to the panel, the quality of entrants in 2017 was extremely high with two other shortlisted candidates: Breheny Civil Engineering whose head office is in Needham Market, and who deliver civil engineering services to almost two thirds of the country; and Vertas Group who provide a range of facilities management services from their base in Ipswich.
