Are you interested in coaching youth, recreational, club, collegiate or professional sports teams or managing health and fitness centers? The athletic coaching and recreation management program at Dean will allow you to combine your passion for sports with the skills it takes to lead a team. Coaches today do much more than run plays and win games. The best coaches are mentors and educators who inspire players to reach their goals in sports and in life. As an athletic coaching and recreation management major, you’ll prepare to do all that and more. Our program combines a solid academic foundation with activity-based classes. You’ll learn coaching fundamentals and theories alongside fitness, nutrition and personal conditioning skills. You’ll also study business principles and develop leadership skills needed to manage recreation departments or health and fitness centers . You’ll have plenty of opportunities to get real-world experience through internships, like working with the community at the YMCA or designing practice sessions and workouts with the coaching staff of one of our 16 athletic teams. You will also network with professionals in the field , which in the past have included professional coaching staff members from the Providence Bruins and New England Revolution . CAREER OPTIONS
