SM RT brief

Supermarket chain Aldi signed a 15-year lease agreement with Sweetbriar Shopping Center . NAI Martens’ John O’Rourke and Nathan Farha represented the Sweetbriar ownership in the transaction. Aldi is already a tenant in the center, located at 2263 N. Amidon Ave. , but will expand into an additional 5,224 square feet. This added space will allow Aldi to offer its newest store concept. The vacant retail space west of Aldi will be demolished to make the building a free-standing location. This will give the ownership an approximately 2.5-acre site to allow for another use. Construction is expected to begin in February and be complete by August. A former car wash in east Wichita will be converted to an office/ warehouse development. The car wash at 602 N. Webb is undergoing a remodel which will repurpose the car wash bays to make them warehouse space. The project will also add around 3,700 square feet to the south side of the building, which will be used for office space. When the renovation is complete the building will be about 11,000 square feet. Two undisclosed tenants already have leases pending. The expected completion date is sometime in May. A new retail center is planned for 1.6 acres near Kellogg and Seneca . The 7,400-square-foot center will feature a Huddle House —a 24-hour breakfast restaurant chain. Huddle House will occupy 3,000 square feet and two other businesses, which have not yet been announced, will occupy the rest. Next to the retail center will eventually be 38 apartment units, mostly one-bedroom and studios. The 36,000-square-foot apartment building will have a Class A, modern look according to developer Abdul Arif . The first local Huddle House is expected to open in April in Twin Lakes .
